    We couldn't stay, sadly.

We couldn't stay, sadly. We were there just one night, during which my sister developed a shocking cold, so she wasn't up to the walk we had planned the next morning and we moved on. However, in a year or so we plan to make up for this and stay a few days. We thought the town looked lovely and the scenery around was fabulous. There are so many interesting trails waymarked we were sad not to do any this time.

Sedona is a beautiful town - lots of things to do, places to eat. Of course since it's a small town, sometimes the volume of visitors creates traffic and difficulty getting into dining of choice. You need a car. No ride options. If you plan to visit spend some time - I joined a FB page 6 mo ahead - to start to get a feel for what would fit our needs for a 4nt 3 1/2 day trip. It paid off because I had a basic itinerary for the days - trails planned, tours arranged, and restaurants reserved. If you are a whatever type, then that will work, too, just be prepared to adjust plans due to things not available. Bottom line, spend some time researching all there is in Sedona. We hiked (age 71 & 75) Soldier's Pass to the Cave, Faye Canyon, West Fork (afternoon), & Devil's Bridge (crowded). All were awesome - go early & be familiar with availability of parking. (AllTrails app is your friend) Th-S you may have to use shuttle if you don't get to trailhead early - like sunrise. We did Pink Jeep Combo tour - FUN. We ate at the Hudson, Javelina Cantina, Secret Garden, Mesa Grill, Coffee Pot Cafe & Sedonuts on our way out of town. We weren't impressed with Sedonuts but everything else was great.

My wife has been wanting to visit Sedona for a couple years now. So glad we finally decided to visit. It is a beautiful area. We went in “off season” - summer. We are used to hot temperatures so the heat was really not a problem for us. Bonus, in off season it is really easy to get around the area in a car. I spoke to a Sedona resident who said in peak season it can take her over an hour just to drive her son to school. Uptown has so many shops to visit. We also enjoyed local restaurants and saw very few big national chain restaurants. One of our favorites was the ChocolaTree. All organic, fresh and unique dishes.

Beautiful, breathtaking view, loads of hiking trails and many restaurants for every taste. Loved being up high, like Airport Mesa lookout and Chapel of Holy Cross, for a wide-angel view of the city. The town is full of resorts that make your stay relaxing and convenient. Plenty of stores, shops and a great visitors center to complete your stay. Situated in the Verde Valley, the area offers a variety of charming towns nearby like Cottonwood, Clarkdale, Jerome and Camp Verde. The downtown can get quite busy during the weekends and tourist season but it's best to park the car and just walk.
