kokand is not worth it. the city is destroyed by traffic and cars. no sidewalks. its too warm and polluted and the ancient landmarks you should be able to see have been completely modified, receiving an extreme makeover. historical buildings have been damaged forever. no heritage protection whatsoever...Guest review byjulianGermany - 10.0
Kokand is a beautiful city with many great monuments.
Kokand is a beautiful city with many great monuments. The park around the palace was wonderful and a great place to hang out at night on a hot summer day, with all the activities going on. There is not a great deal to see in Kokand, but the Khan’s...
There is not a great deal to see in Kokand, but the Khan’s palace and the various old mosques and medressas were interesting, as was the bazaar. The people were very friendly and hospitable - we were invited to have lunch in three different medressas! We were also spontaneously offered lifts to places we were looking for. Kokand is a good starting point for visiting the silk-producing town of Margilon and the ceramics town of Rishton, both of which were very interesting.
