Having gained independence in 1991 following the breakup of the Soviet Union, Uzbekistan is a young country. But the roots of this vast land are ancient.
For centuries, this area of land was a major crossroads along the Silk Road – an age-old trading route that stretched all the way from China to the Mediterranean. Samarkand, one of three major cities dotted along the road, contains so many architectural feats from this period that it has been classed entirely as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. See for yourself at the Registan, a wide plaza bordered by three mosaic-covered madrassas (religious schools) with bright turquoise domes. To the west, Bukhara offers similarly impressive landmarks, including the ruins of a 5th-century royal compound known as the Ark, while the walled city of Khiva further north is the most remote but best-preserved of the Silk Road cities. Here you’ll find stunning mosques, mausoleums and palaces towering over a labyrinth of streets. But there’s more to Uzbekistan than ancient history. Tashkent, the urban capital in the eastern region, is refreshingly cosmopolitan, while in the far north you can visit the Aral Sea – formerly one of the world’s largest lakes now on the verge of disappearing completely.
Hotels and guesthouses are aplenty in the capital, as well as in the Silk Road cities. Accommodation is quite limited elsewhere.

This hotel is amazing! The decoration inside is wonderful with galleries full of historical items..it looks like you're staying in a museum. Even in the rooms there are splendid carpets.
Everything works perfectly: internet, water, the bed is super comfy; everything is clean. Breakfast is a nice buffet with a lot of options.
Furthermore the staff is crazily nice and helpful. They helped us with everything: transfers, reservation in restaurants. They even surprised us with complimentary gifts: fruits and wine in the room and a beautiful souvenir to take home during check out.
It's been definetely the best experience we had so far in a hotel!

The owners and employees are quite friendly. I arrived in the hotel in the morning. It was not yet the time for check-in. The hotel invited me to have their lunch first, while they were making up the room for me. In addition, they were helpful and were willing to recommend the places which you can consider to visit. Furthermore, the room is quite clean and comfortable.

We spent fantastic two days in Buchara. The hotel is spotlessly clean and it is located close to the city center and main attractions. Everything in the room was brand new. The interiors are very beautiful. The breakfast was very tasty and different each day of our stay. The staff was very helpful, even helped us with the laundry service.

Featuring a shared lounge and terrace, as well as a restaurant, YASMIN is located in Samarkand.
Guest review
The price is extremely reasonable for this kind of hotel. It is a little further away from the bustling areas of Samarqand, yet the streets are very quiet because it is not a populated area.
We went to this hotel with our wife and baby. Personal was really kind, assisted us in planning our trip, and recommended locations to visit.
