- fantastic location, very near Kyoto station and bus stops - very friendly and helpful staff - impressive sharing space on the first floor with a mini kitchen, coffee and tea corner(including bean, grinder & filtered coffee equipment provided!), fridge & microwave, and books & cozy sofa corner - crucial information & wall city map for tourists - more than enough shower rooms with soap/shampoo, hair dryer corner (all Dyson!!!) - The place is well-decorated and charming. - very cozy to stay, far beyond my expectations:)

Toshiharu is an exceptional Ryokan located in the center of Kyoto. We have never stayed in a better accommodation, anywhere. 5 Star Quality- The staff- exceptional, the breakfasts delicious and exquisite bentos each morning. The beds comfortable. The Onsen (included with your stay) prepared by the staff each night after a long day walking was amazing. This was a once in a lifetime experience. We stayed 5 nights and the service was consistent. The staff was so gracious and helped with any need we had. Dinner reservations, questions about getting places and so much more. They were so kind. We felt like we were their most important guests.

This ryokan was truly one of the highlights of our trip. The room was stunning—spacious and thoughtfully designed, with separate areas for the bedroom and living room, plus a balcony overlooking the lively main street. The staff were warm, welcoming, and always ready to help. The public hot tub was incredibly relaxing, beautifully enhanced with fragrant yuzu fruits that added a special touch. But the real standout was the dinner—what an incredible surprise! It felt like dining at a Michelin-starred restaurant, with every dish crafted to perfection. The breakfast was also excellent—flavorful, varied, and a perfect start to the day.

We had a Japanese breakfast. This is prepared by a local restauarant for the hotel and comes boxed - ideal to take as a packed lunch should you like. The quality was very high. In addition the hotel provides some snacks which can also be taken as breakfast.
