Great location to travel to by public transport and to explore on foot. Comfortable room and bed, felt very spacious and bright even with few windows thanks to big mirrors in the entrance/hallway. We were offered free champagne as a welcome - the hotel has a nice rooftop bar

Loved staying here, the Dog house has so many different quirky extras that make it feel like so much more than a hotel. Beautiful historic suite in a beautiful historic location, but with great modern amenities, and helpful attentive staff. We went there for our anniversary, and loved it, and would recommend it to anyone. We stayed in the Armory suite, and we loved the busts of the alchemists, the pictures of the kings of Scotland, and the steel plate armour helmets you can pick up. Not sure they are really historic though :) The restaurant is great too if you can get a reservation, but be sure to reserve early or you will miss out...
