We had a pleasant family stay. We enjoyed free drinks in the afternoon and Japanese baths (although it is a small bath area and only has an interior pool).

Location was amazing- walking distance from the station and from the old town. The place was beautiful, and the rooms had everything. Futons were very comfy. The onsen was the best I tried so far (but I haven’t tried a lot). We did the private bath, and it was really nice. They also lend you yukatas to wear around the ryokan. And the staff were very friendly, hospitable and helpful!

Wonderful place, super clean and close to Takayama train station. Super nice staff. Loved the onsen and the size of the room. They give you traditional slippers and kimonos to wear in the facility. Fantastic experience.

It was a fantastic hotel with everything you need, even a washer and dryer. The breakfast was abundant and delicious and the people working there went above and beyond for us and our 2 smaller kids! Great beds and shower. A real experience in a beautiful town! It was super close from the station as well and with restaurants and a supermarket close. There is a Chinese restaurant which was fantastic as well.

Everything. The warm and incredible service, the traditional Japanese room, the sounds of the river, location and having the onsen which you can lock to make it private was great! The family that runs it is just amazing. So lovely, hard working and makes you feel like you’re part of the family!

This was a true authentic ryokan experience. Lovely staff, perfect location and delicious dinner two nights. We slept well on double futons and enjoyed the Onsen ( sitting outside in a warm tub while it was raining was so relaxing!) We will come again if we return to Takayama!

Where to start..
I highly recommend this place. Tai and his parents are lovely, friendly and helpful. Little Tara (the cat) was a joy to watch, playing around with her little ball as we were having breakfast.
The food is amazing, the common area very laid back, a place to enjoy a cold beer next to the fireplace.
Tai happily drove us to the city centre and gave us several useful recommendations for restaurants, places of interests, onsens,...
The room was spacious and the futons comfortable. The showers and toilet rooms were very clean and well looked after. It's a quiet area, a place to truly relax and use as a base for exploring the surrounding area 😊
