A lot of complementary services (example free drinks in the lobby, free ice creams in the baths). The service was pleasant - provided us even with a city map. The room spacious and nice. The location fo the hotel is very good - right beside the old town. A good Japanese style breakfasts.

The staff was absolutely amazing. There was an older couple looking after us who were so kind, fun, and hospitable. They were funny and sweet and made sure to take care of us. Our room overlooked the river and we had our own toilet. The bath was shared but it wasn't a problem for us, we only had to wait for 30 minutes one time and the facilities themselves are EXCELLENT. This stay was a highlight of our trip!

Breakfast was wonderful (we had Japanese). Kaiseki dinner was equally good. We upgraded the dinner on the second night, and to be honest, the upgrade was not worth the cost.

The home was beautiful and it had a lovely view over the mountains. It was also very close to the old town and shrines. The bathroom felt like a spa and the kitchen was well equipped with hand made ceramics. It exceeded expectation, a wonderful place!

The room was absolutely beautiful. We wanted a home feel for a few nights in the middle of a busy 3 week tour of Japan, just to relax and cook ourselves at home, and this was perfect. Walking distance to the old town, retro museums and train station, it was quiet and absolute bliss and the apartment itself was high end, with all fittings and furnishings absolute faultless. Would return and would highly recommend.

The guesthouse is in the heart of the Takayama old town preservation area, which can provide you with the sensation of stepping back in time. It is also conveniently walking distance from anything one may want to visit. You get the taste of staying in a traditional house with the comforts of a newly refurbished facility. A great choice if one cannot afford the full experience of a traditional Ryokan. The guesthouse also comes with the advantage of sleeping in a comfortable mattress instead of a single futon). The owners are very welcoming and exceptionally helpful and kind. They provided us with A5 Hida beef for dinner, which is likely the tastiest food we had since we arrived to Japan. When it started raining, they also kindly offered us a lift to the station to avoid us getting wet. We would definitely recommend this guesthouse for your stay in Takayama, it is certainly a top choice to enjoy the city at its best.

Excellent and beautiful property. It was bitterly cold when we arrived but the property inside was so welcoming and warm. It has very nice decor and was impeccably clean and tidy, every creature comfort is accommodated for. The location is excellent for walking through the wonderful town and easy to walk for meals. Would stay again and highly recommend. One of the best places we stayed in Japan.
