Wonderful experience. The staff was really kind and helpful. We loved our stay even though it was only one night. It’s possible to use onsen in the hotel and also two more - public ones, outside of the property. We hope to come back in the future.

Wow! Everything was fantastic! We went to see the Snow Monkey Park and wanted to experience the Japanese Ryokans and Onsens; we chose this place according to other reviews and it was exactly what we wanted. We added the dinner option and the breakfast option. Everything was really good. Our hosts took us to the Monkey Park and we met at the train station at the time the (independent) bus dropped us off.

Japanese-style hotel Kokuya offers comfortable rooms that boast a private outdoor hot spring bath and free internet access. The hotel features 2 restaurants, a spa and spacious hot-spring baths.

We loved staying at Shimaya. The owners were warm and welcoming, they went out of their way to help with anything. They will even drive you to the snow monkey park for free! Breakfast was nice and well worth the money.
