This was a very delightful stay. The staff were exceptional — we were sad to leave ! And the food was a highlight of our trip to Japan. The room very spacious and a nice experience of traditional Japanese hospitality and design. Would recommend for anyone looking for a beautifully authentic Japanese experience.

We loved staying at Shimaya. The owners were warm and welcoming, they went out of their way to help with anything. They will even drive you to the snow monkey park for free! Breakfast was nice and well worth the money.

Ryokan staff were very friendly and helpful. Private Onsen was great. Rooms were very clean and spacious. The traditional futon beds are really good to sleep on. Really worth it!
