Wow! Everything was fantastic! We went to see the Snow Monkey Park and wanted to experience the Japanese Ryokans and Onsens; we chose this place according to other reviews and it was exactly what we wanted. We added the dinner option and the breakfast option. Everything was really good. Our hosts took us to the Monkey Park and we met at the train station at the time the (independent) bus dropped us off.

We loved staying at Shimaya. The owners were warm and welcoming, they went out of their way to help with anything. They will even drive you to the snow monkey park for free! Breakfast was nice and well worth the money.

Ryokan staff were very friendly and helpful. Private Onsen was great. Rooms were very clean and spacious. The traditional futon beds are really good to sleep on. Really worth it!

If you’re looking for experiencing authentic Japanese living… This is it. The owners do everything to make you feel comfortable at some point I felt like I’m visiting my grandparents instead. Fresh and traditional breakfast is served every morning. 10/10 was the best place I’ve stayed in Japan so far.
