This beautiful hotel is set high in the mountains, surrounded by fields of tea bushes. The staff were really helpful and set up a WhatsApp chat with me that helped with directions, places to eat and things to do. Each interaction included photos of the route might have been tricky. Our rooms were large and clean with nice bathrooms and cosy beds. The views were spectacular. We only had 2 nights here so didn't go out to the viewing spots in the Alishan recreational area, choosing instead to watch the sunset and sunrise from the property's roof or our balcony. It was perfect. We ate at the hotel. The hotpot was a selection of vegetables, fish and meat with a stockpot on a burner. It was good fun and delicious. We ate somewhere different the second night, but in hindsight should have eaten at the hotel again. I wish we'd had longer because the trekking routes around the hotel looked lovely.

We only stayed for one night (we'd recommend two though!) but due to construction work on one of the buildings we got a free room Upgrade and the mountainview from the windows but also generally from everywhere on the Farm grounds was just breathtaking. The food was good and there were even a free Mochi-making Workshop and a little night walk around the Farm included. Even though the letter were completely in chinese (which we don't speek) we still joined and had a lot of fun. We also really enjoyed the calm and quiet atmosphere, and as a Bonus we did not need a car to get to the Farm, as a Shuttle Service from and to the Bus Station in Shizhao for arrival and departure was included. The staff was super friendly and accommodating and the trails in that area are easily accessible from the Farm grounds. We enjoyed every second and hope to come back soon!

The vancinity around Shizhao has become my favorite part of Taiwan. Strategically its a great pivot points between Alishan and Fengqihu (separate day trips), and personally, Shizhao has became the better experience within its own right. Our host Mr. Xue drove us to see fireflies nearby at night. He also drove us to nearby attractions to make the most of our day. He was also so kind to explain tea harvesting and brewing process while we enjoyed the tea he brewed. Our room was huge, equipped with its own tea set. Waking up and starting each day amongst a tea field is a real treat and the aroma of tea permeates though the town. There are great looped trails nearby transecting through multiple tea farms and bamboo forests, look for the Shizhao trail systems, some of my favorite includes the mist, cloud, and sunset trail.

There is ample of parking space and the room is very comfortable and spacious. Love the room design as well. The shampoo, soap and conditioner provided are my favourite. However, the downside is that their restaurant closed really early (last order 7pm). And when we checked in late (7.30pm), despite messaging them through booking.com at 5.30pm that we will be dining in, our request was unheard because we did not have a local number. Fortunately there was one hotpot restaurant that open very late.

Situated within 28 km of Wufeng Park and 35 km of Alishan Forest Railway, SunSweet House provides rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in Fanlu.
