Signs at the airport were tiny and we spent 45 minutes trying to find the hotel. But the hotel was pretty and upscale. Unexpected for a layover experience.

This is a family run hotel in a fantastic location to get to all Heathrow terminals. At 2023 prices it cost £1,90 to get to Terminal 3, and took about 15 minutes. There is also secure parking if you need to leave your car. There was no restaurant in the hotel when we stayed, but plenty of tea and coffee in the room, and a big supermarket about a 5 minute walk away.

With its own Mediterranean restaurant and just a minute’s walk from South Kensington Underground Station, The Ampersand is a cosmopolitan hotel set in a large Victorian building.
