Four-Star Hotels in Matara

We had the most incredible time at Shades, what a treat it was! It’s tucked away in a quiet spot amongst all the incredible nature. I’ve seen so much wild life during my stay there is no need to go for a safari tour. Waking up in the morning to the sounds of the jungle, starting my day with a swim in a beautiful huge pool and a delicious breakfast by the amazing team. Hospitality is outstanding, your every need is anticipated! Food was incredible, great variety and very balanced flavours. Room was so comfortable, I had the best sleep and a phenomenal view. Location was also great, all the beaches are so easily accessible and I enjoyed being away from all the hassle and busyness of the town, returning to this peaceful sanctuary after exploring around. Can’t wait to be back, thank you team!

It was a great stay with nice rooms, great hospitality and the location was peaceful. Chef Priyantha exploded our taste buds with flavors and Ruwan always kept us entertained with his stories and the history of the place.

The staff went above and beyond to ensure that we had a pleasant stay! Due to last minute changes to itinerary, we did not notify them at all that we would arrive way earlier than the official check-in times, still, they managed to get our room ready in less than 40 minutes without any fuss, looked after our luggage in the meantime, and advised us on a nearby sight that we could check out during this short wait. When I inquired about the possibility about a super early check out due to flight schedule, not only did they assure me that it is no problem at all, but also immediately offered to prepare take-away breakfast packages for us with a sandwich, egg, cakes, banana, and drinks. During our full stay, we had very pleasant interactions with the reception and our room was kept super clean. The room was large, the AC was quiet and efficient, the bed was super comfortable, the shower cabin was large and had multiple options (rain shower, regular shower, foot wash) with very good water pressure, loved the toiletries included (apart from the default shower gel, shampoo, lotion trio, here we also got good quality hair conditioner), there was a large sink where we could both stand at the same time, the entire design of the hotel and the room felt fresh and modern. The plugs next to the beds were fine to use with our EU prongs without converter. We had a large balcony with the view of the nearby temple and the ocean. The location of the hotel is excellent, only a 10-15 minute walk from the main beach and many tuktuk drivers waiting outside to take you anywhere else too if you fancy trying another beach. The breakfast buffet was amazing, lots of dishes, international as well as Sri Lankan to choose from, also an abundance of different fruits (at the time of our stay: pineapple, star fruit, passion fruit, watermelon, green and yellow bananas, papaya) and many cakes.

I had a wonderful stay at Sandy Bliss Mirissa. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the food was delicious. The location is also perfect, just steps away from the beach and coconut tree hill a popular attraction in Sri Lanka. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay in Mirissa.

Very lovely small boutique hotel. The name “villa” makes very good sense for the feeling you have when staying there. The atmosphere is nice and quiet and relaxed, and the hosts and their staff make you feel at home.

The location is wonderful. Very quiet and very private. The property is on the seashore and you hear the crashing of the waves as a constant background. The sea view rooms have an unbroken view of the Indian ocean where at night you can see a beeline of ships. The property is kept very clean. The staff especially Mr Pradeep Kumara the owner is very attentive and caring. The food they serve is generous and tasty.

This property is gloriously peaceful. It’s a big site with only six bedrooms so there is plenty of space. There is no bar or restaurant but you can head out for those things.
