One of the best places we've ever stayed in. My wife walks with crutches, and we were immediately offered a room with lift access and improved comfort. Thanks to the very welcoming staff. The room was comfortable and clean, with facilities to make coffee or tea. Breakfast is served at Hotel Schuberts am Schloss, which is 5-10 minutes walk away , just far enough to work up a hunger! The breakfast spread is excellent, with a wide variety of food choices and friendly, attentive staff. Buttenheim is a lovely quiet village, handy for travel links. The station is only 20 minutes walk away, with direct trains every hour to Bamberg and Nuremburg and beyond, running late into the evening. The motorway is about 1km away. The surrounding countryside is a pleasant mixture of arable and woodland with lots of possible walks or cycle rides. With a little research trips out to beer gardens and beer kellers are possible in summer and the two Buttenheim breweries both have their own pleasant Bierkellers just a 10-minute walk away.
