Staying at Peacock Guesthouse was an experience on its own! It is a piece of a medieval fairytale brought into the modern world. Not only you feel the history everywhere, but also the artistry of Bhaktapur craftsmen: the wood-carved windows overlooking the oldest square of the town and the temple, the wooden artifacts in the cute courtyard, the craftsman himself working next to the restaurant…. We marveled every minute of our stay there, we tasted a good amount of their great food and we spent literally hours observing this lively town from our windows… If you are in Bhaktapur and you like living in history and art, look no further.

This lovely guest house is managed by a charming couple Laxman and Sanu who try so hard to make a guests stay perfect. The location is in the heart of Bhaktapur far away from tourist hotels, here you are really immersed in the community while still enjoying home comforts. Dattarraya Square is less than a five-minute walk away where there are a couple of recommended restaurants. We had a spacious room with balcony. Hot water always available and while the room was quite cool in the evenings, a portable gas heater is provided which was very effective. No kettle in the room but there is kitchen on the top floor to make drinks. Good breakfast each morning which is European style with boiled egg, yoghurt and fruit, cheese, tomato and cucumber slices plus bread and jam, juice and coffee.

An outstanding place to stay! The rooftop has extraordinary views of the mountains and is filled with sunshine. Keepa and her son are kind, generous and helpful hosts. They upgraded my room and helped with practical issues like transport and laundry. Nothing was too much trouble and Keepa was delightful to talk to. I felt like family. The bed was the most comfortable I have slept on in Nepal! The location is fantastic.

If you want to fully enjoy the atmosphere of Bakhatapur Shiva guesthouse it is one of the most suitable places. Directly on Durbar square, the windows overlook the temples which are so close it seems like you can touch them. The square is alive both day and night so it should be noted that sleep could be disturbed by dogs and morning processions (not if they are held every day or only during the period of the Hindu festivals where we were), we personally we found it very suggestive. The guesthouse is clean, the room spacious and the wifi fast. There is a good restaurant on the ground floor and the staff are very helpful

Normally, I will not eat inside the hotel I stayed as I like to explore some other places. However, I would like to take dinners there since I stayed as the food is delicious and I especially like the potato pancake (pizza), ramen, coffee , breakfast, yogart the owner made amd provided. Their coffee, americano is really excellent. We asked them to help us buy the coffee beans they used. Both owners are nice and take care of our needs. The staff there are also nice & polite young man. All of them tried to make us feel like their friends. The room I stayed has a balcany and I have a good view of mountain and city that we enjoyed so much. It really nice. Also, the room is clean. Both of is feel comfy with the room and sleep well there.
