The decor is a bit dated but in a very charming way.

Very large room for single or 2 persons, can probably fit a whole family. Keiko was super nice and helpful and had great suggestions for restaurants. There’s just a lot of attention to every detail overall. The toilets even had the highest quality toilet paper I’ve ever seen in Japan😀 The price in summer/off season was very fair. There is no AC but it should unusually not be needed. Even when it was 37 degree in Tokyo it was only 25 in Zao onsen.

Situated in Kaminoyama in the Yamagata region, Snowfall Meteor 飛雪流星 has a garden. It is located 2.2 km from Zao Onsen Ski Resort and provides luggage storage space. The guest house features family rooms. A lovely and heartwarming place to stay for a winter getaway. The couple that owns this business made us feel like family. Mao and Qu are so kind and welcoming. They treated us like family. They picked us up from the bus station, drove us to a wonderful dinner location (which they recommended), drove us to the ski resort, and helped with all our luggage. I was so happy to meet them and talk with them. The room is just as warm as the owners. The floors are heated and the beds are very comfortable. I wish I could’ve stayed longer.

The homestay is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. I stayed for four nights here and absolute perfect experience. The house owners are a family with a kid. And can communicate with Cantonese, Chinese, English, Japanese and even Thai. They are very friendly and introduced the ski resort with nearby onsen. The room is clean and large enough for 2-3 ppl. Although the house don’t have the onsen,it only need 1 mins walk to a free public onsen. Lawson and central rope way is 5-10 mins walk. Generally I strongly recommend to all people that love staying in guest house. Totally worth it. Especially for someone is solo ski trip.

The guest house also provides free WiFi, free private parking and facilities for disabled guests. I had a great time at Daichan Farm. I felt very welcomed and was provided everything I needed. I ordered breakfast and it was super delicious. Would recommend staying here again!

Daishinbo was truly a special experience, as vegetarians Japan has been difficult at times, but the beautifully presented meals at this wonderful pilgrim lodge were simply amazing. Our room was huge and it felt like a home away from home — would love to return one day!

They were welcoming, made recommendations specific to our interests and supported us with transportation. They made us feel like family. Do yourself a favour and book dinner at the Pension. It is home cooked by the hosts, with local ingredients, made to your needs/likes. We wanted an authentic Japanese meal and it was exceptional. Better than the food at any restaurant we have been to. The hosts also have a Shiba, Momo who is adorable! This experience has been unforgettable and we have made new friends :)
