Featuring a garden and views of garden, Mailagama Cinnamon Residence is a recently renovated guest house set in Kataragama, 21 km from Situlpawwa. There is a private entrance at the guest house for the convenience of those who stay. The guest house also offers free WiFi, free private parking and facilities for disabled guests. This was our second visit to Mailagama Cinnamon Residence and we were truly happy to see again the owners of the hotel, Indira and her husband. The hotel is located in a picturesque place among green rice fields. We loved walking around the area - there are large lakes nearby, and there are few people around, but an incredible number of peacocks. A real kingdom of peacocks. The room was clean and spacious, with a balcony with a great view. There was also a big shared terrace to work online or to do yoga. The fans helped to cope with the heat, which was important for us. We really liked the Srilankan food at the hotel - delicious and served with great elegance. Manager Inbaraj was always attentive and helped us with any questions. On his advice, we visited two temples - Rock Temple where you can see dozens of funny monkeys and Kataragama Maha Devalaya. Both places are interesting and atmospheric, especially the latter, which is famous for its festivals throughout the country. We hope to come back here next year to see the beauty of the nature and to feel the special friendly atmosphere.

My hosts couldn’t have made me feel any more welcome. They are kind and generous. As a single female traveller I felt very secure in their compound. I strongly advice you book your safari with your host. He’s a confident driver with a keen eye for leopards. Don’t think saving money will serve you well, take a private tour. The guest house is situated close to the park and near to the road the dissects the park. Take an evening safari on the road if you can. The accommodation is very clean. I found it hard to leave these lovely people.

The room was very comfortable, clean, well equipped and well maintained. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were delightful, extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. I will definitely return.

We had the most incredible dinner and breakfast cooked by them and shared with the two families. We learnt a lot about Sri Lankan culture and would highly recommend other people to stay.

At the guest house, every unit has bed linen and towels. We spent one night at Nobel Regency and it was the most unforgettable time we had in Sri Lanka. In the evening, we sat together, drank tea, played guitar, and laughed so much. The next morning, we were greeted with a beautiful, traditional Sri Lankan breakfast. Afterwards, we went with Rajew and a friend to a hidden waterfall that only locals know about. We had the entire place to ourselves and were able to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere for a long time. Later, we visited his friend’s home and shared a delicious meal together. The rooms were very clean and beautifully furnished, and the value for money was absolutely outstanding. It was a truly special experience, full of warmth and genuine connection. We are deeply grateful to Ruwan from the bottom of our hearts!

The guest house features family rooms. The hosts were very friendly. The room was spacious and price was on the lower end.

Located in Buttala, 31 km from Buduruwagala Temple, Grand Okka Hotel provides accommodation with water sports facilities, free private parking, an open-air bath and a garden. The property features mountain and garden views, and is 46 km from Ella Rock. Featuring family rooms, this property also provides guests with a terrace. Lovely place and very quiet. Set in Wellawaya and only 28 km from Demodara Nine Arch Bridge, Hotel Serugahawatta offers accommodation with garden views, free WiFi and free private parking. The property features quiet street views and is 13 km from Buduruwagala Temple and 20 km from Ella Rock. The accommodation provides airport transfers, while a bicycle rental service is also available. Even though hotel is located by the Ella-Wellawaya road, the location is very calm. Construction wasn't done in some parts of the facility. But the available rooms were at good standard. Good value to your money.

An amazing experience right next to Yala National Park, in the middle of sugarcane plantations and surrounded by unique wildlife that you can spot during a jeep tour around the hotel. I received an incredibly warm welcome, and both breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend it – it was one of the highlights of my trip through Sri Lanka!
