A beautiful place with a very nice garden and freezing pool :) easy to relax sitting in the chair or lying in the hammock, since it is further from the main road, it is also quiet Lovely staff, we talked mostly with Rubina (?) always with a smile, although she was probably quite busy Tasty breakfast Very nice room with amazing view of the surrounding mountains (1st floor), the whole house is very nice, bright and maintained Welcome drink (Madeira wine) and a tasty cake (forgot to ask for the name, it was not pastel nata) Would definitely come back someday!

Set in Machico, S A L - Beach Apartments Caniçal is a recently renovated accommodation, 22 km from Santana's Traditional Houses and 30 km from Marina do Funchal. The property has mountain and garden views, and is 500 metres from Beach Pedradeira. The guest house features family rooms. Great place. New. Balcony in Room 5 was nice to sit and have a beer from the local supermarket (the coffee/pastry shop and small supermarket right past the church are great - staff speak either great English or pretty good English). We overlooked the water- nice. I posted a pic from the balcony. There was also a skylight over the bed if you like stars. Housekeeping was wonderful, and we asked Pedro (very very responsive) for extra towels on Saturday because they're off on Sunday. No problem. Fridge is nice, coffee/pods provided in room were also great, but it was nice to wander down to one of the shops after a day of hiking/sightseeing and sit and have a cup outside. Also- nice places to eat all around, O Recante was fabulous (oh, I'll remember that dessert for a long time) and we had a super nice inexpensive dinner at Muralha's Bar. I can't find any fault with the place other than what I'm sure will be a brief one as they're apparently enlarging the parking area (if they haven't finished already!).

Horizon Retreat in Calheta provides adults-only accommodation with an infinity pool and a garden. Private parking is available on site at this recently renovated property. The homestay provides a fitness room and a shared kitchen. Absolutely recommendable! A superbly located, very clean, and well-maintained accommodation. The rooms offer everything you need, especially the terrace and pool, which are very nice and offer breathtaking views. Above all, we'd like to highlight our hosts, Alan and Josephine: super friendly and accommodating, they provide many great tips for the area, and they were very helpful when we had a problem with our car. Guests can make use of the sun terrace or the picnic area, or enjoy views of the sea and mountain. Fátima's place is really cute and feels very homey from the minute you enter. Everything was really clean and smelled great. The outside area is super lovely and has a great view of Machico, the kitchen is super large and there is loads of room to store all your food. On top of that Fátima is just the nicest person! The room is rather small but the big outside and common area make up for it.

Situated just 1.8 km from Lugar de Baixo Beach, Panoramic House provides accommodation in Quinta do Almeida with access to a garden, a shared lounge, as well as a shared kitchen. This property offers access to a pool table and darts. The guest house features mountain views, a sun terrace and a 24-hour front desk. Very good view from the balcony, clean bathrooms and sheets, loved it. The host is very kind and there's parking close to the house, very convenient. Would recommend and come again if in Madeira
