That was absolutely one of the greatest parts of my Chinese trip. If you haven't fallen with China yet, the Zhangjiajie hospitality will take care of it! First of all, I travelled to Zhangjiajie very off-season. Because of that, I got my room upgraded. They could possibly just let me wander around Zhangjiajie as there was not much business going on, but instead they really took some special care of me! I travel solo, but I never felt lonely, not for a minute! I got a chance to hang out and have a great time with all the people who work/help around the hostel. They would help you with anything, even before your arrival (and after you leave too) so don't hesitate to text them any minute! I just wish I could stay longer, because Zhangjiajie is way more than just the Tianmen mountains and the National Forest Park (beautiful and really worth it by the way!). You can also experience some local folklore, from Zhangjiajie music and performances, typical cuisine to just the Zhangjiajie way of living. Even outside the hostel, all people (including those not speaking English) I met were just so lovely, kind, altruistic, welcoming, open and warm. It's really something different and UNIQUE on a global scale! And I find this story one of the biggest highlights of my whole trip to China. After joking about me being left alone in the park, just with monkeys, Woody (one of the people who help around the hostel) actually called his friend, found me more international travelers in the town and literally drove me to them! In general I had a really great time staying in the inn. The whole area also seems very well designed to make the guests socialise. I'd definitely come back, especially that the Park in different seasons of the year might be a completely different experience!

Looking for a hostel?

Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
