Super well located, 2 min walk from the main station. The rooms are big, clean and silent, and there’s a nice cafe in the ground floor which I recommend.

The best stay during our tour of Japan. This is the perfect feel of what a hostel should be like, a place to meet people who are also travelling and want a sense of community with fellow travellers. After 7pm there is not much to do in the region of Nagano/Suzaka, so socialising and drinking sake with others was an unforgettable way to pass time. The owners are very pleasant and they went to the local market to buy local delicacies for us all to share. Considering we travelled to the area just to visit the Snow Monkeys, this turned out to be our favourite stop and location

We really enjoyed our stay at the cosy Zen Hostel. The room was spacious, decorated in Japanese style and had a wonderful view over Yudanaka. The toilets and showers were clean at all times. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They helped us book a private onsen and we were able to rent skis and ski clothes directly from them at the hostel. This was easy and cheap compared to other rentals. They also made sure that there was always a cosy fire burning in the fireplace in the common area when you came home from the cold. Thank you very much for a great time!

It’s a little bit away from the station but easily with a bus. Close to the temple. Extremely helpful and kind staff that can guide and inspire.
