Sogor Female Dormitory is honestly one of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed at! I feel so lucky to have had the chance to stay here for 3 nights—it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Even though I came as a solo backpacker, I never felt alone. I ended up meeting two amazing foreigners during my stay, and we connected instantly. The environment is clean, hygienic, and very well maintained. The washrooms are spotless, the laundry area is convenient, and the public space is super comfortable—perfect for relaxing or chatting with other travelers. This hostel gave me not only a safe and comfy place to stay, but also meaningful memories and new friendships. I highly recommend it to any solo female traveler out there. I’d easily rate it 10/10!

Clean, tidy, comfortable, quiet, modern with all necessary facilities. Dorms have no windows but it did not bother me as they are spacious enough. AC works perfectly. Communication with the staff was smooth and helpful.

The location was very convenient as it is close to a lot of local eateries and bus stops that goes places. It is also close to a lot of the main attractions in george town. The room that I had was spacious and what I expected it to be. Bed was comfortable. The showers and toilets are plentiful in numbers albeit a little bit cramped in my opinion. PS: this place is self check in. They do have someone on site and they do send out a text message on whats app about the password for the main door and the room door. Just make sure you get the text message from them prior to your visit here. Communication is prompt and concise.

This hostel was probably one of the best I’ve stayed in. The place is beautiful, the common area is really comfortable, there are couches and a table, so plenty of space to chill out. There is filtered water and a coffee and tea station. They also provide a delicious bread and biscuits for guests. I didn’t meet the owners but they were very responsive via WhatsApp, and even though it was through text, they were happy to get to know me and have a chat and offer help. I could really see how much they cared about the hostel and their guests. The room was nice, i understand about the walls being thin and noise travelling, but it actually wasn’t so bad for me. I didn’t need the ear plugs that they provided. The room had a lamp which was a nice touch for me, since there was no window it allowed a softer light instead of the main bright light. I would recommend this hostel and would stay here again if I came back to Penang.

There is no receptionist however they communicate on whatsapp and the response time is quick. Super clean and comfortable. Right next to the famous graffiti art.
