The access was easy for all times of the day. The lounges and kitchen spaces were large and suitable for my child to be in. Staff were incredible from initial phone calls to during stay.

And the award for the worst hostel in NZ goes to... well, definitely not to this one! Hands down the best hostel I ever stayed at, and I have been to many. Due to some recent bad experiences with hostels in NZ I was a bit hesitant to stay in another one, but I am so glad I booked. The place is freshly renovated, big rooms with storage under the bed and a locker (just bring your own padlocks), blackout curtains on the bed and window... Bathrooms are super clean (and with a hairdryer), and I can only wish my kitchen at home was as cool as this one. Before Rotorua, I stayed in their sister hostel in Taupo and it was equally amazing.
