I stayed here 5 nights in mid-November as a solo female traveler, and truly loved the property - I do love a good concrete structure though! It keeps places cool and clean. Staff were abundant and super helpful. There are a few maps and guides in the lobby that give you ideas of what to do & see in and around Dumaguete. They were able to organize a trike for me to get to Dauin, about 45 minutes away (500 PHP). Live music on Friday nights. You can walk about 30 minutes to the center of town or take a shared trike for 10-15 pesitos. I took a Zoom interview at 5am on a Wednesday morning that didn’t crack, so I’d say internet is quite strong. Lots of tables & chairs to relax and chill, lots of cute lighting. The ROOMS/BED: MASSIVE! You could keep ALL your luggage at the foot of your bed if you want to, there’s so much extra space. I also appreciate the individual light, outlet, and bars to hang clothing/towels from. The rooms all have AC that can be adjusted as well. I liked how the bathrooms and showers are outside & well-ventilated, and soap is available. The restaurant Palmitas had a wide variety of food and dishes and open from morning to night, offering even snacks and coffee all day. While it may cost a bit more than other restaurants in the area, it’s great for convenience, has a great ambiance and an extensive menu.

Our diving and care given to us by ma'am Marielle and Nico was just exceptional. We love this place and would go back. The level of diving taught here is quite high and just outside the resort. There's already a lot of activity and coral reefs in the area. I did my open water here and I was able to dive with good bouyancy in Balicasag. I was also told when we did our dives in other places that my bouyancy was good especially having had not as much experience and it's because of the training here. The staff is also extremely well trained. The food is high quality .Better than even the more expensive hotels we stayed in the past. They really took care of us and helped us plan everything smoothly so we're able to get to our ferry on time. The pricing is also very cheap and very fair. You still need to bring cash but this was the only place we visited that had an arrangement where you can do e transfer but receive cash back and this helps so much travelling in the province. We chose La Tortue because my partner is french and I wanted him to feel safe and have a good trip during the first time we brought him to the Philippines. We don't regret choosing here. Also, the costs for laundry, food, pedicab were very reasonable. So reasonable that our fare of 600 php from the port to Dauin. The pedicab who took my cousin and his partner from Manila tried to charge them 1200 PHP or double the cost. It's ridiculous. We trusted their pedicab driver so much. We asked them to take my cousin to the port even if they were staying in a different hotel. You won't regret choosing this place. It's kind of funny how their instructors were all just here on vacation and somehow. They never wanted to leave so they end up working there. Also, their staff followed them even from where the couple originally worked.

It was the owner who made my trip to Oslob memorable. It was Ms Zeny. She’s like a mother to all of us. She made everything was easy from the whale shark tour to getting a bike for rent to where we could eat and going to ferry to Panglao or bus going to Moalboal. She made sure that we would be the first batch to see the whale shark. And it was. The amount of the tour was just 600 and it was all worth it. Cause she will make sure that you will wake up at 3AM in the morning to be the first on the line for the Whale Shark Tour. The location was just like less than a minute to be on the registration area of Whale Shark Tour. So you just have to get your seats first. Then you can ask her staff if you could back to brush your teeth. Do number two. Or you forgot something. Her staff would reserve the seat for you. It’s like really living in an island where you go back to simple life. But INTERNET was fast. Don’t expect for something colorful like any other hostels are offering where you can post on your socials. I think the place is like home away from home in an island style. And also. The value for money is something. The hostel is very cheap specially for those people who are doing backpacking and saving money. I would highly recommend this place as I am not really a hostel guy. I am more of a luxury hotels. But it was the convenience and hospitality of the owner that made me loved this hostel.

We had the best stay here! This small quiet hostel is in the perfect location if you have come to Oslob to see the whale sharks. It's right opposite the entrance to the walk in tickets but also if you want to explore it's an easy 15 mins motorcycle or TukTuk ride into Oslob town. We found Oslob so charming and authentic, all the people are so welcoming and friendly. Ken who is the main host at Way Shack is brilliant. He made our 2 nights stay in Oslob so relaxing and helped us with everything. He has good English so easy to communicate with and is very professional and personable. The room is basic but clean and comfortable with a large space for luggage.

Amazing hidden gem in Siquijor. I love this hostel so much because it's very chill and peaceful since it's a little bit more into the jungle but still super near from the main road. The hostel is very cozy and makes you feel like home right away. It attracts the right type of backpackers who want to connect and meet new people in a natural way. Also the fact that they have an amazing well equipped kitchen makes the experience better. Chris was super friendly and helpful, would definitely go back if I visit Siquijor again.

The hostel is right off the beach on the main bar strip of the island. Amazing staff and residents, most people are between the age of 25-35 which makes for a very relaxing stay. This is also one of the only hostels on the island with a full kitchen - even has a free coffee and espresso maker!

I booked one night in the dorm and one night in a private en-suite. The dorm was very good, with lots of safe storage space under the bed, and more space at bed level to have my luggage. There was even a rack to hang a towel or fabric for some privacy. No issues with mosquitoes in the dorm, probably because it has AC and a fan. I loved the style of the hostel. Bed was very comfy. Breakfast in the cafe next door was very nice. Close to lots of nice restaurants. Staff was useful. Would love to stay there again.

I liked the whole vibe and aesthetic of the hostel. I stayed in the bunk beds and it was okay. They put me in a 6 bed instead of the 10 bed because the AC in the room was broken. It may be better if there was a curtain for each bunk for privacy. There's a little storage, lamp and power socket for each bed. The restaurant is great! I didn't have the chance to try the food but I did try their coffee and pastry (which is 40% after 6PM) and it was really good! I highly recommend the restaurant for it.
