I stayed here the night before my flight, and it was absolutely perfect – very close to the airport, which made everything so easy and stress-free. I was a bit nervous at first because I had never shared a room with a stranger before, but everything turned out great. The place was clean, quiet, and comfortable, and I actually slept very well. I felt safe the entire time. What made it even better was the host – extremely helpful and kind, always ready to assist with anything I needed. You can tell he really cares about his guests and wants them to feel welcome. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a safe, clean and convenient place before or after a flight.

Highly recommend staying here. We stayed in a private room and it was beautiful, clean and spacious and also, very quiet at night so we slept peacefully! Great, central location on a quiet street. Also the breakfast was incredible. The best we had in Madeira and one of the best we've had anywhere!! We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Madeira! The staff were super friendly and helpful too. Thanks Jaca Hostel team for taking such good care of us!

My needs are minimal: cheap, safe, centrally located, warm. I had enough of everything. The hotel is minimalist, a bit old-fashioned. But everything is ok for me. There is wifi, towels, toilet paper, a small TV and a self-catering kitchen - you can do it yourself. Private toilets with a bathtub. Basically - I am satisfied.

This was my first time staying in a hostel and I was incredibly impressed. The staff made the guests feel like family. Helder, Carla and Maria should be on a poster to illustrate the warmth, kindness and cultural beauty of the Portuguese people. Meeting the guests broadened my interests in hiking and visiting the Levadas and listening to their stories, seeing their photos in the common area was a highlight. It was an experience I will cherish and hope to visit again soon.

Looking for a hostel?

Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
