The hostel was very cozy and felt very safe and although every room opens up to a common area it still managed to offer enough privacy for comfort. Despite the constant usage of the facilities by all the guests, the staff at mama Tierra managed to keep the kitchen bathrooms and showers in particular incredibly clean. It was very well run, and of course thanks to the lovely staff it was always a comfortable place to come back to at the end of the day. On top of all of this, they offered a very home stay self serve style breakfast, and packed lunches when you left too early to be able to partake. Lastly, when you book a tour (which they can help with, and I can highly recommend) they will knock at your door when it’s time to set off, which is very welcome for some of the earlier tours. As a testament to how far they will help you, we saw one of the staff, when we left today, wait and attempt to wake up a guest, who most definitely had overslept, over a period of almost 10 minutes to help him get to his tour, and not lose out. I highly doubt most hotels would go to such lengths to aid their guests. To sum up I can whole heartedly recommend mama Tierra for those looking for a moderately budget friendly and very comfortable stay in basically the heart of San Pedro.

Situated in San Pedro de Atacama, Hostal Perita is set just a short distance from attractions such as San Pedro Church, Pukará de Quitor, and San Pedro's main square. Free WiFi available throughtout the property. The host Ricardo was the best part of this hostel. We came in feeling a little sick from our time in Bolivia, and he was the most accommodating/helpful/kind host either of us have ever had. Really the kind of guy who goes out of his way to make sure you enjoy your stay, and always with a smile. Even made sure we left with some breakfast snacks to go before our tour in the morning even though it was outside the appointed breakfast time. The room was really nice, and the beds really comfortable (love the pillows!). Very spacious as well, and had all the amenities needed (Ricardo provided room service during the 3 days and made sure the room was cleaned and restocked) Having full access to the kitchen at any time of day was really convenient The property was really cute with lounge chairs to hang out during the day. Very close to Caracoles street (5 minute walk) where everything happens! But just far enough that it's perfectly quiet at night Honestly one of the best places we've stayed during our travels

Rooms have a private bathroom and a flat-screen TV is available. We had an amazing stay at this property. The staff were very friendly and the property was kept sparkling clean. Our room was nice and warm and they had electric blankets on the bed for us. The location is great it’s about a 7/8 minute walk from the main Street. Would highly recommend this place to stay.

The staff were amazing and really helpful, breakfast was good with bread, tea, coffee, yogurt, milk, cereal, salami, ham and cheese. About a 10min walk from town which we didn't mind and meant the accomodation was really peaceful and quiet. They let us stay there after checkout for a few hours while we waited for our overnight bus.
