I stayed at this hostel/hotel for 5 days, I was in a dorm and I can say the most comfortable bed ever! It was clean and brand new with big lockers, AC and a big fan with toilets and bathrooms inside each room and a beautiful balcony over the patio where you have many animals coming every day like monkeys and macaws! The people working there are the best 💚 It also has a restaurant and bar with a dock that’s amazing to watch sunset. I honestly could live there it was so green, clean, beautiful and new.

The hostel was a joy, wonderful grounds with a resident sloth (Raoul), a number of agouti and most wonderful...the red straberry dart frogs. There are flowers at every corner and the trees and lush vegetation add ambiance and privacy. They have a good system for food storage in the shared kitchen and a nice little pool area.

The room was well set up; the bed was comfortable, the 2 fans were great and having a mini fridge in the room was very handy. We loved that there were sloths and agouti around the hostel. We also loved Tequila, one of the cats who was super friendly. He brightened our days!

The location is far from Puerto Viejo, of course, but the beach is close (ten minutes by walk), and just a bit further there are three supermarkets and a pharmacy (and you'll find yourself in the main road, pretty easy to do anything). Then, you're staying in a very nice jungle spot. The facilities are great, good kitchen, big rooms (with lockers and plugins). All very clean (you can see how the volunteers are making an effort, they're really great: all the staff is very friendly and helpful). Good common areas with a fantastic atmosphere, very social and easygoing (I would dare say you can actually feel at home: your home in the jungle). Highly recommended :)

At the hostel, all rooms include a patio with a lake view. Every room has a private bathroom with a shower, while certain rooms here will provide you with a balcony and others also provide guests with river views. At Chinitas Eco Lodge the rooms come with air conditioning and a safety deposit box. The owner is exceptionally kind and patient :). She supported us to get our ride back to the mainland and organised a good guided trip. But where she went above and beyond was preparing a special thing for a special event and also helping me find my phone which I had lost somewhere in the village. It’s definitely somewhere I would consider going back to. It is clearly not high end accommodation but it is extremely clean and the rooms have great air conditioning. For the price it is unbeatable. We also saw a humming bird while there and a few frogs. It is a lovely place to just be and relax.
