I’m so glad we stayed at Mr. Michiku’s hostel. Michiku, our host, is the best. He picked me and my son up at 7/11 close to the station and dropped us back at the station the following day. He was very accommodating and helpful. He tend to our needs even for a short stay. The hostel itself is lovely. The interior is a mix of traditional Japanese and modern. We had a warm, comfortable and restful stay. We spent the night in a beautiful tatami room with absolutely amazing view of Mt. Fuji. I will definitely stay here again. It is quite far from the town center but I didn’t mind and loved walking around the Lake Kawaguchiko.

What truly stood out, though, was the kindness of the owner. They went above and beyond to assist us during our stay, making sure we had everything we needed. Their hospitality added a personal touch that made our trip even more special. I highly recommend Hachi Hostel to anyone visiting the area. They shared many insights about the history and highlights of Asuke, making me feel as though I had become a part of this beautiful town. I stayed in a single room, which was spacious and comfortable, offering a relaxing experience. The restrooms and shower facilities were clean and well-maintained, and to top it off, there was even an open-air bath. It was the perfect way to unwind and soothe my travel fatigue. This is a place I would love to return to as a base for exploring Asuke.

Yuki San is an exceptional host, after arriving earlier has no problem showing me the property and also gave me very useful tips about places around - where to eat, where to surf, and where to go onsen. Whole property has a really nice and friendly atmosphere as well as the whole Shimoda. Yuki also provides bikes, which moves the whole experience to a different level.
