Nestled in the heart of the Yarra Valley, DixiGlen Farm is central to many of the attractions the beautiful wine region has to offer. Our fully self-contained cottages are designed to suit a variety of guests. If you are a couple wanting a romantic getaway, a family with young children or a small group we have accommodation to suit.
Having lived with my husband Graeme, in Dixons Creek for over 30 years. We have raised 3 beautiful children, who have seen many charges around them as they were growing up. The farms around us changed from large paddocks of cows grazing to 100's of acres of grape vines. We are now surrounded by Vinyards and Wineries, some walking distant from our little farm. Over the years we have worked together to build three cottages. We have gone through many changes over the years. DixiGlen has been home to a variety of animals including chickens, ducks, peacocks, geese, miniature pigs, cows, goats, alpacas, horses, lizards, snakes, possums and a wallaby. It has been a boarding kennels, had a hazel nut orchard and now cottage accommodation. The black Saturday fires arrived at the farm from two directions, the fires wiped out the hazel nut orchard and caused other damage but we were extremely lucky to save all the buildings on the farm. My hobbies these days include Bee keeping, gardening as well as crafts and cooking, looking after grand children and showing guest my little bit of heaven. My husbands hobbies consist of model trains, computer games and wood crafts. We both love living in the valley and can not imagine living anywhere else.
While you stay you can make the most of the surrounding attractions, Healesville Sanctuary, Yarra Valley Chocolaterie, Horse trail rides, Hot air ballooning, Trolley rides, country races, Helicopter rides, markets and the beautiful national Parks, and Reservoirs. We are surrounded by award winning wineries. Less than 5 minutes’ walk to Immerse and Mandala and only a short drive to De Bortoli and Fergusons winery to name a few. There are many other wineries in the area that are only a short drive away. If you are going to Rochford Wines for a Day on the Green, don’t drive, organise to have us drive you. We can also supply you with chairs and a picnic basket. This must be pre booked. The country town of Yarra Glen is 10 minutes away by car. The town has a large IGA supermarket, post office, bank, Grand Hotel and a variety of small restaurants. Every second Sunday of each month The Yarra Valley Food, Wine and Craft Market is held at the Yarra Glen racecourse.
