Absolute Coorong is a new property on the holiday market and offers hard-to-find accommodation with dress-circle views across the pristine waters of The Coorong and The Coorong National Park… a fabulous getaway destination with all the comforts of home. On the esplanade in the small and tightly held settlement of Noonameena (17km from Meningie and 90mins from Adelaide), this air-conditioned home offers magnificent views from the front deck, kitchen and living areas and has a fully equipped kitchen, king, queen and bunk bedrooms, two bathrooms and laundry. Altogether, the house sleeps 4 adults and 4 children (bed linen is supplied). During your stay you will have access to kayaks (two single and one tandem, with lifejackets), which can be launched from the settlement beach. With favourable weather, you can cross the 2.4km lagoon and walk across the dunes to the ocean beach. There are also spots to launch your tinny for fishing and boating. Wifi is via a satellite service. It is ideal for web browsing and email but not for video streaming. The Coorong is unique for its birdlife, Indigenous heritage, intriguing colonial history, stunning sunsets, beautiful vistas and relative remoteness. Absolute Coorong is one of the very few places you can enjoy it in comfort. Bedroom configuration: Main Bedroom: King Bed Second Bedroom: Queen Bed Third Bedroom: 2 x Bunk Beds (4 singles) The beds will be freshly made for guest arrival with sheets, pillowcases, and quilt covers. Bath towels, mats, hand towels, and tea towels are all supplied. The whole property is fully fenced. It has wire mesh fencing, about 900mm high. We provide dog/cat water and food bowls. Please note that the property sleeps up to 6 adults only (the top bunk beds are not suitable for adults). Best Beach, Walks & Parks Boating It is possible to launch at Noonameena but it is a rocky beach, launching into shallow water (sometimes not deep enough to float a boat off the trailer). There is a track to the water adjacent to the fisherman's hut at the southern end of the settlement: pretty well opposite the last house. It is actually the (Crown Land) driveway to the house. The launching spot is a sloping rock shelf and while some people launch with conventional vehicles a 4WD is best to get the trailer far enough into the water. It's best to walk the area first to see hazards. There is no marked channel to the deep water: from the launching spot you need to go diagonally west (towards Adelaide) for the opposite shore at slow speed. Kayaking INFO RE KAYAKING There is a sandy pathway to the beach directly in front of the house and the kayaks can be carried/dragged to the water. The beach is rock shelf here, so not great for swimming. Gibby's Beach is about 700m north of the house and has a sandy beach. Much of the shoreline on the Coorong is sand over mud so it's useful to have reef shoes or old sneakers, not just for the mud but also for the rocky parts. It's 2.5km across the lagoon. It's best not to cross if you expect a strong opposing wind for your return: can be an exhausting trip. It's another 1.5km walk across the dunes; there are no marked paths so you need to note your route over and follow footprints back. Swimming on the ocean beach is not recommended. Take a water bottle, hats and sunscreen in case you stay longer than expected. Ensure that you pull kayaks well out of the water before leaving them - it's a long return swim if they blow away! Swimming at the Beach SWIMMING BEACH The Coorong is a lagoon rather than a tidal beach. Most of the 'beach' on the mainland side is a limestone shelf but you can launch yourself into the water with care.
