Barnard Castle, a market town in County Durham, is located in the pristine scenery of Teesdale. It is situated where a former Roman fort once stood and over a river. The castle's ancient ruins still rise over the river and are worth a visit. The town, lovingly referred to as "Barney" by locals and visitors alike, is home to cobblestone streets, yards, and back lanes that date back to the 12th century.
