About this property
Set in the heart of the Eden Valley, the 19th-century Appleby Manor Country House Hotel offers a warm welcome and stunning surroundings. The hotel features an AA Rosette-awarded restaurant where guests can enjoy the best of fresh, locally sourced produce. In the evenings, you can choose to dine from either our refined à la carte menu or the more relaxed bistro-style dinner menu, all served in the comfort of our main restaurant. Drinks can be enjoyed on the terrace, with views overlooking the beautifully landscaped gardens. Each guest room includes a comfortable seating area—some set within charming bay windows offering views of the gardens and nearby Appleby Castle. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. The lounge, complete with a traditional real log fire, provides a cozy setting to enjoy a pre-dinner drink or a quiet moment. A full English or Continental breakfast is served daily in the Restaurant, which features views stretching across the Lake District fells. The surrounding area offers excellent opportunities for scenic walks, hill hiking, and fishing. Appleby Rail Station is just a 10-minute walk away, while Appleby Castle and the local golf club can be reached within five minutes by car. Penrith town center is less than a 20-minute drive from the hotel.

Bistro 1871 is open from 11:00 until 14:00 and 18:30 until 21:00 daily.
Please note that use of Garden Spa will incur an additional charge of £25, per person.
Please note that there is a smart casual dress code when fine dining at the hotels 2 AA Rosette Restaurant. Shorts, trainers or men's sandals are not permitted. Alternatively, the Bistro 1871 offers a much more relaxed and informal style of dining.
