Clarendon House is a beautiful Grade II listed, 19th century Georgian villa in the heart of the historic quarter of the charming small market-town of St Columb Major. Guests wishing for self-catering accomodation can reserve the Columba Suite, a one bedroom 1st floor apartment with large sash windows overlooking picturesque Bank Street leading up to the 15th century St Columb church. The Columba Suite has a fully equipped kitchen and a comfortable living room complete with baby grand piano which can be used on request and is perfect for self-catering holidays. Alternatively, for shorter get-aways without the need for a kitchen - the Coachyard Studio can be reserved - a generous but cosy bedroom that overlooks the former coachhouse courtyard at the rear of the villa. The studio has a spacious private ensuite bathroom with bath/shower. PLEASE NOTE there is tea/coffee making facilities in the Coachyard Studio however no kitchen or microwave. For parties with more than 2 guests or families both the Columba Suite (one bedroom apartment) and Coachyard Studio (double room and private bathroom) can be booked depending on availability to create spacious 2-bedroom self-catering accommodation.
St Columb Major is a hidden gem well positioned in central Cornwall, in striking distance of both the North and South Coasts and just 10 mins drive from beautiful Mawgan Porth. Well behaved dogs are welcome provided they are on leads when in common areas of Clarendon House. Dogs are not allowed on beds and should not be left in the property unattended. The property is located in the centre of the historic quarter which means the streets are quite narrow and there is not that much street parking. It's generally possible to pull up temporarily near the property on Bank Street to unload and there is usually free parking further down the hill.
In a charming part of the historic town, Clarendon House is less than a minute's walk away from 'The Ring O Bell's', a fantastic pub with an excellent reputation up the road serving delicious food ' as well as one of the best Fish and Chip shops in Cornwall. There are several adjacent small art galleries/craft shops, antique stores, with an excellent Co-op supermarket open 7am-11pm 7 days a week, fabulous butcher and artisan bakery all less than 2 minutes walk away. There are other take-away options in town as well as two other cosy pubs with the Coaching Inn a stone's throw away. The stunning 15th century St Columb church is also well worth a visit a short stroll from the house.
