Property information

The Nest is just that, a proper little cosy bolt-hole for the perfect getaway. Located between Ambleside and Skelwith Bridge, just outside Clappersgate, this little hideaway is perfectly placed for easy access to the Langdale valley, or back into Ambleside. Small and cosy but perfectly formed, this is a well appointed one bed unit, with a small kitchenette with oven and hob, dishwasher and microwave and well fitted shower room to keep you self sufficient.  All on one level from the parking area, the accommodation also provides easy access for restricted mobility. Outside there is a private parking area in front of The Nest, and a covered seating area. Following the completion of building work around the local estate, we have relaunched this lovely little property with some improvements and land management.

Neighbourhood information

The bustling town of Ambleside is just a mile away and has become a popular tourist resort offering a diverse range of eateries from picnic takeaways to a Michelin starred restaurant. It boasts three cinemas, gift shops, outdoor clothing stores, hotels, cafes, pubs and a park with outdoor activities. It even has its own Roman ruins to explore, for those interested in history. Of course England’s largest lake, Windermere, is on the doorstep offering all the fun of a variety of water sports, lake cruises and is just a great place to sit and watch the world go by. For those who wish to explore further afield, Ambleside is a connection point for buses to connect guests with the wider towns and outstanding scenery of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Leaving the car behind and jumping on a bus to explore the National Park not only helps to look after the spectacular landscape but also gives passengers the opportunity to see it without the challenge of negotiating narrow, and sometimes steep, country lanes or search for parking at your destination. By sitting back watching the landscape go by, the journey becomes part of your adventure!
