Yr Hen Farcdy is a beautiful semi-detached cottage situated in the foothills of the Rhinogs, within the Snowdonia National Park, at the end of a gated track. We offer our guests the choice of either double or twin room if sharing. There will be a surcharge, payable at property if both rooms are required. The rooms are in a private part of the cottage, on the 1st floor, with private shower room. We offer free wi-fi and free private parking for cars/motor bikes. Parts of our cottage are over 300 years old and we have a beautiful cottage garden for guests to sit in and relax in this peaceful setting. The rooms have beautiful views over the garden and surrounding countryside and ancient oak woodland. Tea/coffee making facilities are available in the private hallway, where we have also provided books, dvds, local information leaflets and maps. Breakfast is included as part of your stay with us. This consists of a choice of full English/vegetarian/yoghurt with fruit/choice of cereals/fresh coffee/tea/fresh orange juice. Breakfast is served from 7.30am.
Mike and I would love to welcome you to stay in our beautiful Snowdonia cottage. We bought the cottage a couple of years ago, and have enjoyed decorating/refurbishing the apartment to a high standard. The rooms are very comfortable and cosy. We both love Wales and when the opportunity came for us to buy Yr Hen Farcdy, we didn't hesitate! We both have a love of motor cycles and music. Mike is a former landscape gardener who is looking forward to maintaining our beautiful garden. I previously worked at a wonderful dental practice where I loved meeting and caring for the patients. We are both very excited about our new venture and absolutely love our new home, which we can't wait to share with our guests.
Yr Hen Farcdy is a great base for exploring the beaches, castles and mountains of this beautiful part of Wales, on the edge of the Llyn Peninsula. We are located just outside Talsarnau, inbetween Harlech and Porthmadog. There is a footpath from the cottage's doorstep leading to a wide variety of walks. We are approx 10 miles form the Antur Stiniog Downhill Trails and 15 miles from the Coed Y Brenin mountain bike centre. The local Ei Steddfa Fishery meets the needs of all ages, having a trout and family fishing lake. There is also sea fishing at Barmouth, Borth-Y-Gest and Criccieth. The castle towns of Harlech, Caernarfon and Criccieth are within 10-35 miles drive. The harbour town of Porthmadog is a 10 mins drive away with many amenities including the popular Black Rock Sands. The beautiful, romantic 'Italian Village'- Portmeirion is only a 5 mins drive away and is well worth a visit during your stay here. Snowdonia has some of the best and varied rock climbing in the world, including the nearby Tremadog crags. Bird watchers will also love it here with many species visiting our garden on a daily basis. Even if you just need to unwind, relax, read a book you will find a haven here.
