From here, you can visit every other part of Kefalonia, while having the city and its perks to return to. Argostoli offers a multitude of dining, nightlife and proper shopping options, as well as an ample choice of fine beaches all around the city. most major points of interest around town can be walked to: • 5’ walk to closest supermarket • 8’ walk to a Bank/ATM and to Agora/Argostoli Market – a part of the downtown seafront area with numerous grocery stores, bakeries, butcher and dairy shops etc. and some restaurants and cafés) • 9’ to Lithostroto St. – a pedestrian street about a mile long where lies the main commercial activity of the city. The place to go for all your general shopping: clothing, jewelry, souvenirs and much more. • 7’ walk to Argostoli Central Bus Station • 15’ walk to Valianou Square (many restaurants, cafés and bars) • 20’ walk to the pier for the ferry to Lixouri • 2’ walk to Kefalonia General Hospital • 15’ walk to Athletic Park (football stadium and open basketball courts) • 20-25’ walk to Lassi There is an intra-city bus that goes around town and towards the Lassi area where are many beaches, restaurants and bars. You can always also use taxis, rent a car or a scooter to get around. Driving a car to downtown Argostoli can be very frustrating because of traffic and lack of parking. A car however, is essential if you plan to visit other places of the island.
