The setting and the house was absolutely lovely. The breakfast was beautifully set out and delicious. The view over the loch, the cows in the next field, the country lane leading up to the house and the gardens exceeded expectations.

Company info

The business has been established with the opening of fully renovated Andresna House in late Summer 2019. Before that, the hosts were running a Swiss Fondue Restaurant in Ranelagh, Dublin 6.

Property info

Andresna House is a lakeside Georgian house with private access to the shore of Lough Arrow. From the forecourt of the house, there's a lovingly tended loop walk which leads around our unmown pollinator friendly wildflower meadow, down to our private lakeshore and back to the house. The property consists of six double ensuite-bedrooms, a light flooded dining extension with ten sash windows, a living and drawing room, both with antique fireplaces. All bedrooms are equipped with new boxspring beds and modern hi-end fittings with pressurised water in their ensuite bathrooms. The house is tastefully furnished with genuine antiques and art, as well as with selected new furniture. To the south of the main building, in line with a two storey outer house, there is a walled garden with beautiful ornamental planting and a separate herbal beth. For our guests, there is several garden furniture arranged around the house and on the grounds. Also, a fine lake boat with new outboard engine can be rented for fishing, picnic or just a tour on the marvellous Lough Arrow.

Neighborhood info

Almost every period of Irish history is represented in the area around Lough Arrow and offers hikers, water sports enthusiasts, nature seekers, diverse leisure activities. Lough Arrow is a well-known fishing lake in a special protected area for natural conservation. A very special landmark is the Carrowkeel megalithic complex, just a stonethrow from the noth end of the lake. No matter whether you are looking for a gin distillery, a well preserved Cistercian monastery, Forest Park adventures, eagles flying, worldclass golf courses, surfing and breathtaking beaches, it's all here.
