【GUEST HOUSE/OSAKA】 Hello, I’m the host’s KINOKO GIRL. I’m Japanese. I’m studying Korean and English. I like table tennis, music, and sweets. This house is an old Japanese traditional house where my grandfather lived more than 100 years ago, DIYed with my mother and sister. My father’s bandmates, who were working on music abroad, came to stay from abroad and his friends came to stay, which was the beginning of my house as a guest house. I have never been abroad. When I was little, my house always had guests from abroad. The guest adored me. I often slept in the guest room. When they arrived, I hugged the guest because I was so happy. But when the guests left, I hugged them sadly. It's a childhood memory. The Corona disaster has subsided and the guest house will resume. From now on, my sister and I will run a guest house. I would like to run it loosely and happily. If I can get along with you guys, I'd like to hang out and play table tennis. Actually, there is a table tennis table in my room. My favorite drink is HOROYOI grape flavor, and my favorite snack is JAGARIKO. Feel free to come to my house. To all our guests and the Booking-com staff, I appreciate your help, even though I am not very knowledgeable. KINOKO.

Property info

This guest house was built over 100 years ago during the Taisho period. It’s run by a Japanese family who started it as a DIY renovation for friends from abroad. They kept it going so their kids could meet international guests. Now, those grown-up kids are the main hosts. Many Japanese guests return often. One reason is the option to store large luggage or cosmetics long-term. It’s also convenient for fan events or business trips. Owner Kinoko says: "This isn’t a luxury hotel with perfect service or fancy amenities. I hope it feels like visiting nostalgic relatives. We’d be happy if this place becomes part of your journey." Rooms are divided by thin sliding doors called shoji and fusuma, which don't block sound well. Guests are expected to be quiet and respectful of others. This reflects Japanese culture, where calm is kept through mutual respect. We know this may be unfamiliar for guests from different cultures, and we don’t wish to impose it. Some say “walls are thin” or “sound travels.” Sadly, sites like Airbnb or Booking don’t offer proper categories for rooms like ours—what we call shoji-fusuma private rooms. So some expect full walls and soundproofing. Others think “dormitory” means shared beds in one room. Under Japanese law, "shoji-fusuma private rooms" are recognized as private rooms, and the lack of an international standard may also be part of the issue. Our guesthouse offers shoji-fusuma private rooms. Yes, sound carries. Please use headphones for music or videos. If you are open to this cultural style, we’d be honored to welcome you.
