Company info

Doug and I have previously hosted Bella's Bed and Breakfast in this area for many years. We enjoy meeting our wonderful guests and expect our guests to feel relaxed and comfortable while staying with us. We live on the lower level separate to our guest suites which are on the upper level. We respect our guests privacy and are contactable during your stay. During the renovation Doug and I had a large input to the design decor and interiors which we enjoyed every moment. We have a feature in the magazine NZ House & Garden August 2018 which we are very proud of. Both of us a born in Auckland and have lived locally in this street for 29 years. We love the central location to the city and Ponsonby Road for shopping and dining. We have an interest in living a healthy lifestyle with a positive and gracious attitude to life. We have a little dog called Archie that loves to meet our guests.

Property info

Franklin38 has just undergone a two-year complete renovation/rebuild. This grand old villa started its life as a gracious family home however in the early 1920's she was turned into a 15-bedroom boarding house, slowly losing her shine as the years have gone by. We now have four luxurious suites, all with double glazing. Every door, wall ceiling has been replaced. However, we did manage to restore the ornate plaster ceiling in the hallway downstairs. We have incorporated contemporary furniture in the suites, underfloor tiled bathrooms with sensor lighting. Separate guest dining to enjoy meeting other guests at breakfast and a beautiful guest lounge to relax in. In the warmer months we have a guest outdoor garden to enjoy. Wrap around balconies have a fantastic view of the city and sky-tower not accessed with the Freemans Suite.

Neighborhood info

Freeman's Bay is the nearest suburb to Auckland City. It is a very easy 20-minute walk or catch a bus near us every 20 minutes. Uber is only 5 minutes to the city. Auckland top restaurants are a five-minute walk and so are the trendy bars and shops. The sky tower is a 15-minute walk which you can see from our property. A 25-minute walk to the Musuem and domain. Mt Eden a similar distance.
