Sandusky is known for Cedar Point Amusement Park, which has some of the world's tallest roller coasters. It's also known as Ohio's Water Park Capital. Sandusky was named the Best Coastal Small Town in America. It's also known for its thriving waterfront, Kalahari Resorts & Conventions, and water parks. The name "Sandusky" comes from the Wyandot word saundustee, which means "water" or "cold water". Some believe it was named after a Polish fur trader named Antoni Sadowski or Jacob Sodowsky. Sandusky has beautiful parks, downtown architecture, and a wealth of history. The downtown area has dining options, shops, art galleries, attractions, and the historic Sandusky State Theatre. Sandusky is also known for its role in the Underground Railroad. Sandusky is a diverse and loving community. The town is often quiet, but the downtown area can be lively.
