Welcome to The Cozy Cub Cabin & Soakin’ Salmon Spa, a uniquely themed Alaskan retreat in Big Lake. Designed to blend rustic charm with modern comfort, this stay offers guests a private, peaceful experience complete with their very own hot tub and sauna house.
The Cozy Cub Cabin embraces a black-bear theme throughout, featuring warm wood finishes, soft lighting, and charming décor that reflects the comfort and adventure of Alaska. It’s the ideal space to unwind — whether you’re enjoying a quiet evening in, sharing a cozy meal, or simply relaxing after a day of exploring the area.
A short stroll from the cabin, you’ll find the Soakin’ Salmon Spa House — a separate, fishing-inspired retreat designed for relaxation and fun. Inside, guests can enjoy a private hot tub and cedar sauna, both reserved exclusively for their stay. The décor celebrates Alaska’s salmon heritage and dockside lifestyle, creating a playful, spa-like escape surrounded by fresh air and calm.
Together, the cabin and spa house create an experience that’s both authentic and rejuvenating. Guests often describe the property as the perfect mix of cozy, private, and thoughtfully detailed — with just the right touch of Alaskan personality.
While your stay feels secluded and self-contained, attentive hosts are nearby to ensure everything runs smoothly and that you have everything you need for a comfortable visit.
Whether you’re here for a romantic getaway, a family retreat, or a quiet weekend to recharge, The Cozy Cub Cabin & Soakin’ Salmon Spa offer a truly memorable Alaskan experience — where warmth, relaxation, and a hint of wilderness come together beautifully.
We moved to Alaska from Texas in 2021 and quickly fell in love with the community, scenery, and slower pace of life here in Big Lake. What began as a dream to create a cozy place for family and friends turned into something truly special — the Cozy Cub Cabin & Soakin’ Salmon Spa.
My husband, our neighbor Dave, and I built both the cabin and the spa house by hand, putting care into every board, beam, and finishing touch. We wanted to create a space that felt warm, inviting, and uniquely Alaskan — where guests could relax, recharge, and make lasting memories.
Our goal as hosts is simple: to make you feel welcome, comfortable, and completely at ease. You’ll have full privacy during your stay, including exclusive access to the hot tub and sauna house, but we’re nearby if you ever need assistance or local recommendations.
We take pride in the details — from the black-bear-inspired décor in the cabin to the playful fishing and salmon touches in the spa house — and love seeing guests enjoy the spaces we poured our hearts into. Whether you’re here to explore, unwind, or simply soak up the Alaska experience, we’re honored to host you and share a little piece of what we’ve built with care.
Our property is located in Big Lake, Alaska, just one mile from the popular Northshore entrance to Big Lake itself. Guests love the convenience of being close to the water — perfect for boating, kayaking, fishing, or simply enjoying a scenic walk along the shoreline.
The area offers the best of both worlds: peaceful surroundings with easy access to local essentials. Within a few miles, you’ll find a grocery store, gas station, and several local eateries, making it simple to stock up or grab a meal without venturing far.
Big Lake is known for its year-round outdoor recreation. In summer, visitors enjoy fishing, hiking, paddleboarding, and exploring nearby trails. In winter, it transforms into a snowy playground for snowmachining, ice fishing, and northern lights viewing. Whether you’re here for adventure or relaxation, there’s always something to enjoy in every season.
We love how the community blends a small-town feel with the rugged beauty of Alaska’s outdoors. Guests often tell us they appreciate being close to everything they need while still feeling like they’ve escaped to their own quiet retreat.
