Perfect place! But let’s start from the beginning… When I was looking for an accommodation in Rovaniemi I had 2 apartments to choose. One with weak responsiveness of the host (according to reviews) and one with a great attention. I have decided for the 2nd one - Reindeer Route Apartment and it was the best choice. Janica - the owner - was indeed very helpful and available for any questions. She recommended the competitive companies offering the tours (cheaper than those on Trip Advisor or Get a Guide. The apartment itself was great. In fact this was a 2 level house with 2 bedrooms on the 1st floor (4 persons) and one sofa in the living room. Nice kitchen with all the dishes. Awesomeness in a small package. It was very exciting for us to experience a Yurt in Finland, as "Yurt" has it's roots in old Turkish - meaning "Home". Although the weather was cold, the Yurt itself was pleasantly warm. Everything looks very basic at first glance. However it proves to be very sufficient and even very refreshing so that it is just perfect. Gigi is a very kind and helpful person. Gigi recommended an app for the northern lights. However we were a bit unlucky and the weather did not allow us to see the northern lights. She offered us free Marshmellows as a compensation, which was very sweet. We will be back next year and stay again at Yurt District and this time we will bring a little surprise with us from Türkiye for Gigi. Thank you for everything 💙

The Log House is beautiful and as advertised. The host welcomed and showed us around the property. He was very responsive before and throughout our stay. I requested the sauna to be ready for our arrival and it was. The apartment was stocked with some beverages and instant meals, which we were very grateful for. It seemed to be the perfect spot to see the northern lights— either from the jacuzzi on the deck or anywhere within the property. Unfortunately, the weather conditions were not in our favor that night. Overall, I think this is a wondeful getaway location not too far from the bustling city. Just note that the host lives in the house next door… yet, it’s all in a secluded area and very quiet. Know that this apartment is around 26 km from the city center and there are no amenities nearby. You can purchase some instant meals and other food items from the supermarket as there’s an electric kettle and fridge in the room. Since we didn’t have a vehicle, we relied on a taxi. The rides are not cheap in December, but I knew what to expect and don’t regret spending what I did. Honestly, two nights would have been ideal! If you have a vehicle, then it would be easier to move around. Thank you for hosting us and the gift —nailed it with my favorite chocolates. Cheers!

We were a group of 7 and a little dog. The house is spacious, fitted to accommodate at least two families (which was our case) in a way that everybody can have its own space and interact with each other at the same time. The big bonus for us was the sauna, great way to relax in the evening. The kitchen well equipped, no need to bring your coffee and tee, previous guests left leftovers of their coffee, tee and even pasta. Unfortunately, we were not lucky with the weather and could not see the Aurora but the house is away from the city and if there would have been an opening in the sky it would have been possible to enjoy the Nordic lights from the house. The host (and her daughter) were also very helpful with ideas about available activities in the area. We highly recommend the place and we would come back.
