Located within 4.1 km of Jigokudani Monkey Park and 10 km of Ryuoo Ski Park in Yamanouchi, Yorozuya features accommodation with seating area. This ryokan provides free private parking, a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi. Guests also enjoy access to the hot spring bath and hot tub, as well as the public bath and open-air bath. Just wow, beautiful location, amazing food, the staff were lovely. Not sure you could find anything more traditional. A really awe inspiring experience. The onsen was soo beautiful. A shame that the men get the most time in the Momoyama section as it is jaw droppingly beautiful and would be so cool to watch the day break from there. Great that you can take photos in the morning before you depart. So atmospheric at night. Not touristy at all and full of locals. Scrub up on your Japanese before you go!

A 5-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station, Tawaraya offers Japanese-style accommodations with free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV. Guests can relax in the indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths and wear colorful Japanese Yukata robes. Massages can be requested for an extra cost. The main purpose of visiting was taking an outdoor onsen (an amazing experience that now I want to do more often). The owners are welcoming and kind, they do their job with love and effort! It was also my first time trying traditional Japanese dinner - I'm glad I decided to order it (the breakfast was great too). They also sell nice souvenirs. There is Snow Monkey park not far from the town, I highly recommend to visit! As well as two local cafes I also visited: CASE山ノ内 and Tea Salon Miyako.

At Daymaruya Ryokan, guests can enjoy hot-spring baths and traditional Japanese-style accommodations with free wired internet access. A free shuttle is available from Yudanaka Train Station, which is a 5-minute drive away. This was our first stay at a ryokan. Our hosts were very pleasant and attentive. We couldn't have asked for a kinder welcome. Our host came to the train station to pick us up, showed us around and provided us with lots of information about things to do around Shibu Onsen. His recommendation of Enza Cafe and its food was excellent. We were also able to borrow ice cleats for our walk to the snow monkey park. Our hostess delivered a traditional homemade Japanese breakfast to our room in the morning. The meal was presented beautifully in a lacquer box and it was delicious and healthy.

Aburaya Tousen offers luxurious contemporary Japanese-style accommodation with an amazing 11 types of hot-spring baths and free WiFi. On just a 7-minute walk from Yudanaka Station, the hotel boasts outdoor hot spring baths with mountain views, a spa and a restaurant.

Guests at Tousen Aburaya can dream away in an outdoor public or private bath, and enjoy the sauna or a relaxing massage. The hotel offers karaoke facilities. Worth every cent I paid for, for the junior suite. Service impeccable from arrival to departure where owner lady saw us out. The view of the river out front and mountains backdrop is awesome. Wifi is great, and room very comfortable. We still miss our own private little onsen tub. Private dinner experience excellent, though you might want to order more food (from additional a la carte menu) if you tend to eat a lot. Sweet old owner lady went around briefly greeting all the guests. Lounge (access came with room) very neat and cool, with wine & charcuterie served 5-7p. I could go on and on, but this is by far the best traditional-style stay my entire Japan trip, next to the new Waldorf Osaka modern-style stay I had. It's everything I dreamed a ryokan experience would be & more. Definitely ticked off my bucket list item.

The ryokan will provide guests with air-conditioned units with a desk, a kettle, a fridge, a safety deposit box, a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with a hot tub. At the ryokan, units are fitted with bed linen and towels. Absolutely a gem!!! Food was one of the best in the entire trip to Japan. Some staff spoke English and went out of their way to make the experience memorable. The onsen is natural hot springs with nice sulfur smell. Loved every second of this place. Would happily return.

Located in Yamanouchi, 4.1 km from Jigokudani Monkey Park, Shoraiso provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. This 5-star hotel offers room service, a concierge service and free WiFi. Guests can use the spa and wellness centre with a hot tub, and hot spring bath, as well as a bar. We had a great stay at Shoraiso for our honeymoon in December. Service is unparalleled and the staff are doing above and beyond to make us feel like home without being intrusive. We love the elephant decor of the room and the beautifully landscaped garden, and the private onsen is definitely the highlight of our trip. Breakfast and dinner are included and the food is just exceptional (very tasty with fresh local ingredient and creative presentation). The location is quite convenient - 45min train from Nagano to Yudanaka station and hotel is just a few min drive away (the hotel can arrange pick up). Monkey park is quite close (around 15min taxi away). Overall we couldn’t recommend this hotel more!

Spacious rooms feature wood interior, an en suite bathroom and air conditioning/heating. Guests can enjoy the view of Okushiga Kogen from the comfort of their own rooms. All rooms are equipped with an electric kettle, free toiletries and a TV. The lounge is absolutely the highlight, here the Grand Phenix shares three things with you: great local draft beer, a gentle Okushiga snowing view, and a warm firepit. This lounge is so special that you can wait for your dinner table (because of the tight reservation in Christmas season) there while drinking your drinks by a bonfire, this even makes waiting a wonderful experience...
