Some units have a balcony and/or a patio with sea or mountain views. Upon hearing about the prospect of staying at Lochmara Lodge upon arrival at Picton from North Island, we jumped at the opportunity. Definitely no regrets, as although the lodge is not high end, everything else makes up for it. This was one of our top highlight stays across 5 weeks in New Zealand! We felt so welcomed by staff, before and during our stay! Prior to booking, all questions, including transport via water taxi, were quickly and diligently answered. Upon arrival at the water taxi, we were warmly greeted and helped by staff to ensure a swift check-in ahead of schedule, and the same was experienced upon arrival. The place is set deep in the Marlborough Sounds, and it offered the most amazing scenery and nature all around. It was breathtaking, especially as the sun set and first thing in the morning. The fact that it cannot be reached by car made it extra special and unique. We had two rooms, one water facing and one facing the back-end (this room was perhaps a bit sad). The room was small, quite simple but we did not spend much time inside, as there was so much else to do! We loved the chill and vibe of the place, and the level of activities available to us during our stay. We did hiking, the feeding time activities with the pigs, goats, birds etc on site (we loved the insight provided with all), kayaking, paddle boarding, the games and general relaxation. We also visited the underwater observatory - which was super interesting - and great interaction and insight into the creatures of the New Zealand waters. The restaurant offered an all-day service, including breakfast and dinner for us overnight house guests. The staff was always friendly and welcoming, and the food and drinks were of a high quality. I think we could have easily done a third night at this place, and it provided such a great introduction to what more to come during our time on the South Island.

Comfortable bed and furniture, very well equipped with everything one could need. Easy access to town and route to wine country. Communication with the host was excellent, he made sure the checkin went smoothly and provided tips to make our stay enjoyable and special

The unit is air conditioned and is comprised of a terrace with an outdoor dining area as well as a flat-screen TV with streaming services. The villa offers bed linen, towels and laundry service. Absolutely stunning cottage, our best accommodation in the three months we have been in New Zealand. Spotlessly clean,well equipped with all the amenities you need. Lovely to sit on the deck looking at the stunning views. Quick walk into town if you need to go to shops etc. The extra touches of the fresh farm eggs, delicious homemade bread and yummy cheese platter just made our stay even more memorable. Rhonda and Max are fabulous hosts and go above and beyond their means to make sure you have a fantastic experience. Will definitely be back but for a much longer time next.

Just a 3-minute drive from the heart of Picton, Tasman Holiday Parks Picton boasts a heated outdoor pool in the summer months, and a hot tub. Guests can socialise in the shared lounge, or enjoy a meal using the BBQ facilities. Our unit was very spacious with a good layout and very clean. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Location was perfect, just a short stroll along the marina to reach the town centre. Parking in front of the unit was very convenient. 2 nights were not enough to make use of all the amenities in the holiday park (e.g. pizza oven, games room, swimming pool).

All guests have free access to the well-equipped, spacious lodge facilities. This consists of a fully equipped shared kitchen, dining area, TV room, laundry facilities, games deck, gym equipment and spa. Had a very comfortable stay, delicious breakfast scones and company of a sweet lady cat :)
