We absolutely loved this hotel! It is without a doubt one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. I loved how convenient it is to everything (literally right beside Santa Catalina Arch), and yet as soon as you pass through the gate you feel like you are tucked away in a tranquil and private oasis with a beautiful secret garden in the central courtyard. Each room in this hotel is different and some are larger than others. We were not able to stay in the same room both nights due to availability, which gave us a chance to experience two different rooms: room 1 and room 3. Room 1 was absolutely amazing. It is huge and has high, vaulted ceilings and a large fireplace and sitting area. The bathroom is set apart around the corner and the shower also has a vaulted ceiling, chandelier, and skylight. Everything felt very grand. I appreciated the makeup mirror that was provided so I could get ready without turning on all the lights and waking up my husband. Room 3 is still very nice but smaller and less grand than Room 1 (it doesn’t have a vaulted ceiling or separate sitting area in front of the fireplace). If we had stayed in Room 3 first I think we would have loved it, but it was a bit of a letdown coming from the huge and extravagant Room 1. With that said, Room 3 is not right on the central courtyard, so it feels a little quieter and more private. I think every other room is on the main courtyard, aside from the big suite (which is just beyond Room 3 in its own courtyard). The San Rafael is a small hotel (I think there are only 6 or 7 rooms) and it feels very intimate and boutique-like. A few other pluses about this hotel: First, I really loved taking breakfast outdoors in the courtyard surrounded by the beautiful garden, and second, it felt very safe. The gate locked behind you when you walked out on the street so even in broad daylight you still had to ring a doorbell to get in. At night, there is a door and a gate. All told, we absolutely loved this hotel.

    Debes visitarlo durante la estadia en Antigua. Se llega facil en Uber. No recomiendo ir caminando si no estas acostumbrado a caminar por 20+ minutos, subiendo escaleras y cuestas. La vista es bonita, hay tienditas para comprar meriendas, una vista linda de Antigua y hay banos. Como en todo lugar publico cobran $5Q

    It was a little bit of a steep walk up but you can take your time. A couple of weeks ago when I went it was still under construction so you couldn't get to the main center with the wings for pictures but it should be open now. Great view of the Agua volcano at sunset.

    I was welcomed bu the sweetest family and immediately felt welcone and at home. It’s very clean, very friendly and helpful family, very near to Cerro de la Cruz and about a 15 mins walk to the city center. I was helped in so many ways, Mr. Alvaro is happy to help and everything i booked was perfecfly arranged. Great view for the sunset!

    The staff go above and beyond to help you. Beautiful breakfast and super secure for a solo traveller. Quite quiet location. Wooden furniture with a beautiful central garden. Easy airport transfer organised by the hotel staff - driver even stayed with a flight delayed. The recpetion and housekeeping were fantastic - even catering for early departures. Location is super close to the outlook in Cerro De La Cruz.

    The place is really clean, they pay a lot of attention to details and the price is great for that. They offer bikes and scooters to rent, ask earlier for the scooter. The day and the afternoon staff has been really respectfull and helpfull for anything i needed. The kitchen, the balcony and the other roof gives enough space to feel at home if you want to cook, meditate or do your yoga/homeworkout. The sport parcs nearby and the mirador(cerro de la cruz) gives another great experience of Antigua in a peacefull place of the city.

    I was with my two young kids. The location is good. You can go by foot to the historical center or do the cerro de la Cruz hike. You can park into the garden. The bed was Nice and it is so convenient to have a washing machine and a dryer

    The owner Alvaro was super super nice and helpful, from organising our Acatenago trek, our pick up from the airport from GUA to loads of tips and advice about other things we were planning on doing in Guatemala. The place is a house where rooms are rented. Ar least for us with private bathroom. It’s very close to Cerro de la Cruz and a 15 min walk to the center. From the terrace you had a great view over the volcanos. They had a super friendly Labrador called Nella.

    Amazing value and quiet location, only 10 minutes to the central park and very close to Cerro de La Cruz, making a sunrise viewpoint very easy! Also the hosts live onsite so are always around to help out and more than happy to arrange tours and shuttles for you at a great price.

    Fabulous location! Easy to walk (and not get lost!) to main sites. Everything- the Central Park, Arch, etc. was only a handful of blocks away on the same street! Also 20 minutes easy walk to Cerro de la Cruz trail, again easy to navigate. As a solo female traveller I appreciated this immensely, as well as the insight and delicious restaurant (as I didn’t feel as comfortable walking around after dark, not for any reason other than personal preference).
