Super clean, the room is very spacious, has two shared-but-private onsen baths (meaning you can lock it for your own use). Kitchen fully equipped with grill, microwave oven, pan stoves, dishes and cutlery, fridge. The toilets are shared but there are plenty in the inn. Kotatsu in the shared living room! Ayana san, the person taking care of the place, is super helpful and friendly (she gave me a lot of tips about the local baths, to contacting the bus station to make sure I got the right information for onward journey).

You feel the essence of the region incorporated here, and the iconic red bridge is a spectacle to behold no matter the time of day. The private onsen bath in my room was spectucalar and was exactly what I needed after nearly 2 weeks of non-stop travelling across Japan. A truly mindblowing experience staying here.

A wooden building stemming from 100 years ago, the property breathes a historical atmosphere. Our fourth stay here and we are still absolutely smitten with this place. Comfortable rooms, wonderful staff, delicious food, and the best baths in the prefecture, all wrapped up in a cozy, creaky, glowing inn nestled deep in the woods.
