Although we arrived late in the evening, Marie was welcoming and showed us to our very clean room. She asked us at what time we wanted our breakfast and had a full Irish (and some 😃) ready for us the next morning. Her homemade scones and brown bread were sensational. Out the dining room windows we saw their new calf and met Patch, their terrier mix dog. Marie gave us tips, maps, and info on what see in the area and gave us a tour of St. John’s old schoolhouse that is also available to book for a stay. It’s adorable! I can’t say enough about Marie and John’s hospitality and kindness. I hope to see them again if I make it to Ireland!

Providing a garden, the property is located within 22 km of Clonalis House. The property offers allergy-free units and is set 21 km from Roscommon Racecourse. We had such a nice stay at Glenvela Guest House and were a bit sad we only stayed for one night. Everything was exceptionally clean, our room and the whole house were lovely (every room has their private bathroom) and the breakfast left nothing to be desired. However, the best thing about our stay were Maureen, Ronald and their three dogs - we could not imagine better hosts, and the dogs welcomed us with much enthusiasm and we were happy to follow their request for extensive cuddling (I must add that the dogs are kept in a private area of the house and the hosts only let them out when the guests are comfortable).
