Our stay was exceptional. The property is very well maintained and in a lovely garden setting. We were the only guests as it was the off season but the service was still top notch. One of our group was ill for the stay and the staff were very kind and caring, and provided cold compresses, a tonic and dinner to the room for her. The dinner they provided for the group was ample and incredibly tasty. During that we enjoyed hearing about the property, the area and their experiences. This stay felt like a real home away from home thank you!

My hosts couldn’t have made me feel any more welcome. They are kind and generous. As a single female traveller I felt very secure in their compound. I strongly advice you book your safari with your host. He’s a confident driver with a keen eye for leopards. Don’t think saving money will serve you well, take a private tour. The guest house is situated close to the park and near to the road the dissects the park. Take an evening safari on the road if you can. The accommodation is very clean. I found it hard to leave these lovely people.

Guests can relax in the garden at the property. Very nice and clean rooms. We stayed in a bungalow in the middle of the jungle. The bungalow had nice high ceilings, a little porch and aircondition. The hosts are very nice and made us feel very welcome. We had a nice Dinner surrounded by oil lamps in the middle of nature. The hosts organized a half Day Safari for us and packed a nice breakfast with fruits and sandwiches. The place is very close to the park entrance so we started at 5:30 am bit were still one of the first jeeps in the park. The beds are comfortablewe slept really well.

Every unit features a private bathroom and shower, air conditioning, a flat-screen TV and a fridge. Tranquil wild lived up to its name. It is right next to a lake with water buffalo in it. There are heaps of birds including peacocks and hornbills in the garden plus lots of monkeys, squirrels and lizards around. The garden is huge with mature trees and plenty of space. You can walk beside the lake and do a little exploring, really nice at sun rise or sunset. The swimming pool was excellent for a bit of relaxing. Anne and Amal were fantastic hosts answering all our questions and organizing our safari and other activities. I recommend having Amal on your safari. He is full of info and has a big camera lens to get those close ups the cellphones can't do. Their safaris go into block 5 and 6 which are a lot quieter ( in terms of jeep numbers) than the main Yala block 1. We saw elephants, crocodiles, monkeys, lots of birds, and 2 leopards. Also if you have the chance to have dinner and bonfire down by the lake shore then do it, we got lucky with a stunning night and full moon rising. The food, including breakfast was really good. If you are looking for somewhere to relax with nature then this is it.

We also loved lounging by the swimming pool, a perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring. The gym facilities were a great bonus too! We felt so relaxed and rejuvenated during our stay. Unforgettable Stay at Farm Villa Resort! Amazing location with easy access to Yala National Park. The surroundings are absolutely stunning — full of natural beauty and peaceful vibes. We stayed two nights at Farm Villa Resort and had an unforgettable experience. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with a large balcony and even a private pool! We loved how much space and privacy we had, and the view of the paddy fields was breathtaking. You can even take a walk through the fields — a truly unique experience. The staff were exceptional — friendly, attentive, and made us feel completely at home from the moment we arrived. One of the best parts of our stay was the full-day safari to Yala Block 5, arranged by the resort. It started early at 5 a.m. with a private guide who helped us spot rare animals and birds. The resort took care of everything — from a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast to a memorable jungle lunch. Everything was perfectly organized for a comfortable and exciting experience. The resort is also great for bird watching and wildlife lovers — even monkeys came to visit us near the villa! The food was another highlight — both breakfast and dinner were full of authentic Sri Lankan flavor. The large swimming pool was clean and perfect for relaxing after a long day. We highly recommend Farm Villa Resort to anyone visiting Kataragama or Yala. This was one of the best stays we’ve had in Sri Lanka — and we will definitely be back!

Situated in Galgamuwa in the Monaragala District region, Redstone Cottage Gal Oya has a terrace and mountain views. There is an in-house restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. Outdoor seating is also available at the campground. This was honestly one of the most welcoming and thoughtful places we’ve ever stayed. From the moment we arrived, Sydney and his team looked after us so well. The chef asked what we fancied and was very accommodating. He cooked the most amazing curry, lunch and honey hoppers for breakfast (which we were introduced to and absolutely loved). They even gave us a packed lunch for our elephant boat safari, which they organised, along with a great driver. There were little extra touches that made such a different, like beers in the fridge when we arrived (and they went to get more when we ran out), a cooking class with a local family, a really interesting forest walk with an indigenous guide and when we asked if we could do some laundry they sorted it for us with no trouble at all. The cottage is in a beautiful, quiet spot with amazing Mountain View’s, a perfect place to switch off. Would highly recommend supporting this amazing project. Such a great experience 😊😊
