We really liked the atmosphere in the room — everything felt clean, tidy, and welcoming. The location was perfect, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the movie theme of the hotel. It didn’t feel outdated or kitschy (even though it easily could have), and we even watched a film one night on the huge TV in the room. The rooms are packed with modern technology, as the hotel only opened in 2024, and you can tell they put thought into all the details.

I was quite skeptical about this hotel at the beginning. 3*, street accessing the hotel under reconstruction, at the arrival one guest was complaining at the reception from... everything. Turned out exactly the opposite! Amazing staff, very clean and comfortable room, excellent breakfast ! I would really like to express my gratitude towards the people working in Hampton Budapest!

Picture perfect scenery and the best part that all rooms on the property are located that you get the best possible view of the river and mountains so that made for such a memorable weekend getaway for us. It was our anniversary celebration so could not have asked for a better panoramic view. Bonus points to the staff for being so friendly and helpful at all times it made our stay even better! We will definitely return for another weekend as soon as possible ♥️ Note: people with lower ride heights take care as the gravel road can be a bit difficult to navigate. We came in a convertible so this was the only poor part i.e. the end road quality. Otherwise no complaints!

The mera hotel was in a perfect location for sightseeing.

The mera hotel was in a perfect location for sightseeing. Budapest is a very busy and interesting place to visit. Lovely to sit by the danube and watch the world go by. A must visit is the parliment building (we got tickets on line before we went) Gellert baths are good too. ( buda side) they have loads of sunbeds around the heated outdoor pool. Great for relaxing after sightseeing. Loads of good places to eat. I must recommend Ape Regina restaurant which is not far from the hotel. We went twice because the food was so good. Budapest is walkable (that's how we got around) but if you have problems with walking long distances, I would use public transport. City park is worth a visit, but a long way to walk from Budapest city centre.

Linz is an industrial and admin centre on the (definitely not blue) Danube river . Small airport with (as at July 2025) 2 flights a week from London STN. Pedestrianised town centre with a mix of old and new architecture gives no clue that the pleasant clean town has an active steel works. No special tourist draw but a reasonable base for touring and onward travel, Large Danube cruise ships stop at Linz but most passengers are sent to Salzburg by coach and make minimal contribution to the Linz economy.

It's a nice city, but unfortunately almost every adult smokes and most cafes don't enforce a non-smoking policy. I unfortunately stayed in the centre of Stari Grad where all the loud bars and clubs are and there is no real legal policy on noise pollution. I honestly don't know how people live here full time. Due to this, I had to stay in a lot of other places on the weekends (+ I also visited Belgrade on occassion). This meant I could (hopefully) get some quality sleep. But having said this, I didn't get to fully explore the city and all it has to offer but the main area of Stari Grad is very nice culturally and a nice place to walk. I also think the river should be more accessible with nice paths alongside it. It's either a main stretch of busy road or once you hit a certain place it's blocked off and you have to pay the beach venue to access it which is a shame.

I was surprised at how much there was to see and do in this charming medieval town. We stayed for 4 nights which felt just right for visiting the castle, the Virgin Mary pilgrimage church, taking an afternoon boat ride on the Crystal ship, visiting the glass museum, and walking along the cobblestone streets to visit shops, art galleries, cafes, and bars. If we had more time I would have probably used the spot as a jumping off point for other local towns. We did a lot of walking to see the gorgeous views of the 3 rivers. Lots of history in this town - it was an unexpected gem.

Galati was special, two days was a bit short. - We took an early morning ferry over the Danube and back as foot passengers before breakfast. Fabulous sunrise, nice adventure. - Evening walk along the Faleza with beautiful impressing sculptures from the seventies. - Recommend restaurant Blue Acqua, good athmosphere and delicious fish dishes. Vegetarian options too. 20 minutes walk from the hotel along the Faleza. - We went sightseeing some fascinating abandoned steel industry areas.

Marshall Cafeteria in Traian Square. Fantastic Cakes. One day I had “ Champagne “ . Next day “ Savarina”. But Champagne probably was of the best cake I had in my life. Rest of them. Red Velvet, Amandina, Carpați, Diplomat, Ecler, Backavas with chocolate, Baclavas for Fasting, drink “ Braga”. And many, many more. For exemple : Last time I drank Braga it was when I was a child. 8 to 10 years old. Now I am 57. So, was worth it this trip to Braila. I the the readers to decide about.
