The host was the best he brought us some fresh bread that was “the best sourdough we had in our lives” (quoting my partner) also the place is located perfectly for anyone that would love to wake up to an amazing view! AustraliaGreat location, approx mid way between Bruny Island Ferry and Alonnah. Great Bay is a little bit of paradise! This property was ideal for us… very comfortable beds, functional kitchen, bathroom & laundry area. The TV was great for watching the World Cup football when we could.
The wildlife at night on Nth Bruny island is breathtaking. We slowly drove from the Ferry terminal at Roberts Point to the property in Great Bay and saw over 30 quolls incl. family groups, marsupial mice, brush tail possums, pademelons and wallaby’s etc. during the day we saw sea eagles, shearwaters, various parrots etc. Nth Bruny is a wildlife paradise.
Look forward to staying again!

The view was sensational. Very relaxing. A little bit of privacy between the decks of the neighbouring apartments too so that was nice. They provided two complementary ciders which was a welcome surprise. Very close to the pub for dinner. Excellent location. Very new furnishings.

Adventure at the southern end of Bruny Island was a lovely idyll w ocean in the distance. Wallabies and Tassie hens ran round at dusk. Varied vegetation from the forest nearby and sounds of birds appeals to the senses

Over the years I've noticed Bruny island is getting more...
Over the years I've noticed Bruny island is getting more popular and busier. I recommend getting on the car ferry at Kettering early as queues form after 9am. This also maximizes your time on the island if you only going for a couple of days. Try to time your visit to the popular sites such as the Truganini lookout when the day trip busses aren't there. Allow extra time when touring South Bruny as there are lots of stops to view and take photographs along the way. If eating out such as the Alonnah pub or Mari Bruny (cafe) book ahead as tour groups will fill them.

Hotel Bruny in Alonnah is a draw card, eat in or takeaway. Down the road in Lunawanna is the vineyard restaurant, great for lunch (dinner at weekends). Alonnah is at the top of south Bruny, an ideal base for exploring the whole island.

A relaxing sightseeing natural setting with not too much commercialisation. Friendly locals for conversation and recommendations. Small cheese tasting etc. Plenty of nice walks if able. Need to bring daily supplies for food.

Barnes Bay is located 12 minutes from the ferry in a beautiful rural setting on the ocean although not too far from all the fantastic attractions the island has to offer. It's certainly a great place to stay for a holiday. Loved our time there although it wasn't long enough.

All the way at the northern tip of Bruney island.
All the way at the northern tip of Bruney island. Peaceful quiet place, away from the main crowds of Bruny. Need to drive 30-45 min out to the other parts of Bruny for food and supplies. Advisable to plan ahead and pack your own food and drink supplies from mainland before making your way to Dennes.

It was a quiet and secluded place. We were there in late February, so outside of school holidays; I would guess that it would be busier in peak holiday season. We enjoyed the quiet and natural beauty. The general store had a much better range of food than I had expected; you didn’t have to live off tinned baked beans!

If staying on Bruny Island you will need a car to get around. Alonnah is quite central and has the Hotel Bruny for meals which were very nice. Everywhere on Bruny is picturesque. Other areas have nicer beaches. Adventure Bay had beautiful beaches for swimming, plus a shop and cafe/restaurant which an unusual menu from burgers to curries -,probably the best curry I’ve ever had.

easy access to everything, the nearby Bruny island Hotel has a relatively short but simple menu, although very good drink selection, but the food was absolutely top notch brilliant flavours, good size helpings, reasonably priced for the dishes on offer, and prompt an efficient service. The cottage / cabin, was immaculately presented with impeccable taste, above and beyond what one would normally expect.
