Warm welcome, outstanding eclectic decor and meticulously organised treasures and all pristinely clean. Halls Gap has a lot to offer. Scenery, great trails around the town and in the wilderness. Great town with so many nice options for great coffee and food. One of Australia's best travel designations. Liked the Wannon Waterfalls within 20 minutes of the town. Unfortunately, the other one was closed for repairs and signage was not used to inform travellers. So many people, including me would have driven many kms out of their way from either end of the access road to the falls. Why didn’t the authorities who had approved the repairs to Nigretta Falls consider the impact and waste of fuel for many tourists over the many months this site has been closed? There are some great bluestone old churches and Victorian style houses with great iron lace work in the township. Ararat is a lovely town in itself and has everything you need, town hall, art gallery, many shops, antiques, eating places, gift shops, swimming pool, indoor and out, recreation, park, drives up to Halls Gap and tourist attractions areas. A few pubs at Nhill, however the recommended place was shut for Sunday dinner unfortunately. Owner was helpful however and suggested a couple of alternatives (the only alternatives in Nhill!!!) Lake Tyrell was absolutely amazing - I’m sure you could visit everyday and see something different! Sea lake is a pretty little town with friendly locals and a great pub for meals. It is a fascinating town, old goldfields, amazing 19thC architecture, good caravan park. For us it's been a transit overnight being halfway between Adelaide Hills Home and Falls Creek, with numerous trips to family winter and summer last 12 or so years.
